Karma rocked forward harder, trying to get the horse to move. "dammit, Roth...when I...get over there..." She looked at her feet and swung them forward. "Now...how did those boys do it?" She swing her legs back, hidding the horse's thighes and the horse whinnied making Karma yelp and hold onto its neck as it broke into a gentle trot. It took Karma a moment to regain composure as she sat on the moving horse. "...Yes!...now when the time comes, I'll...figure out how to stop it."

Lin smirked at Karma.
"What if it's so stupid it walks off a cliff?" She snickered. Mithinrei took this moment to fly out from the trees where it had been harrassing soldiers and landed on her shoulder. Again, the horse didn't seem to notice, or care.

Linith ran out of the woods and put away his bow. He quickly found a horse and hopped onto it. It began following the others which a slightly faster pace. When it caught up to them it slowed down to their speed. That was...4. He absentmindingly petted the horse's mane while he followed the group.

"Eh..." Karma said, kicking the horse in the sides again. But this time it went a little faster. "damn!" She cried, trying to teach herself how to stop the horse.

Roth suddenly halted his horse, something occuring to him. "You go on ahead, I need to check something," he said before riding back towards the place the battle had taken place.

"No, Roth!" Karma called but he had left them already. She rocked back and forth on the horse. "How do you get it to slow down?!"

Lin sighed and whistled sharply to the horse, causing it to slow down immediatly.
"Why is Uncle Roth such a freak sometimes?" She asked indignantly. Sighing, she turned her own horse around anc galloped after him. Silly Uncle Roth, I thought we were in a hurry! She mentally complained. It wasn't long before she had rejoined him and lept right from her horse to his, landing behind him so that she stood on the saddle. "Silly Uncle, why wasting time now?"

Linith pulled on the reins of his horse and it halted. "Wait-" Linith told Lin as she went towards Roth but it was too late. She already reached him and he sighed and turned around. I wonder what he's looking at...

"Oh..." Karma murmured then glared at the ground and watched Lin go off after Roth. "I'd just like to know where we're going. I lost my train of thought with this horse." She sighed. "I knew I should have just walked and met you guys." Karma watched the top of her horse's head then shut her eyes tightly. "I can't believe I'm riding one of these."

Roth sighed and slid out of the saddle. He kneeled in the circle the red figure had drawn in the ground, and examined the hole that the sword had created. The sand around it was molten, and swirled as he brought his hand near it. He whispered something, and the lava froze with a crack. He picked up the rock and examined it closely. Then he put it in his pocket and headed back to his horse. "We can go now," he said as he prepared to mount his horse.

"Already?" Lin pouted and turned, this time having her horse practically dance back up the path ahead of them. "Hurry then, Scarlet doesn't like to be kept waiting." Without further ado, the horse bolted forwards and left a cloud of dust.

Karma kicked the horse in the sides once again and it started in an easy trot. She smiled. "I can do this." She said to herself.

Roth toyed with the rock as his horse caught up with the group. The hand that held it tingled, and he watched with a bemused look as his hand began to turn black, the blackness spreading outwards from the rock. He watched it intently as it spread to his wrist and stopped. He whispered something to his hand, as if confiding in it a secret, and strange patterns etched themselves through the black with glowing red lines. He looked puzzled for a moment, then the black appeared to sink into his skin, the red lines fading out. He tossed the rock absently aside, and it turned into a fine black powder in midair, scattering in the wind. "It seems our friend is quite a bit more important than I originally thought. It appears that we are following Kerjal, one of the Dark Lord's most trusted advisors, and his second disciple." He rubbed the hand that had so recently been pitch black and pulled up beside the group. "We must tread carefully. I wouldn't be at all suprised if there's a camp set up around here."

"Well if there is," Karma said, looking at Roth. "We'll just have to kick their sorry asses. We did it before, we can do it again. I bet they aren't as powerful as you're making them sound." As always, Karma was overly confident.

"They aren't particularly powerful," Roth agreed. "What worries me more is their numbers. The Dark Lord is blessed with a nearly endless supply of troops, and I wouldn't be surprised if the camp is occupied by a veritable invasion force. We're almost at the border of our land and his, and it would serve as a key point if he were to launch an invasion, and he hasn't exactly kept it a secret that he's been eying this kingdom for years." He scratched his beard. "What bothers me is why one of his advisors would ride out with a scout party like that."
