Roth shot Karma a sideways glance. "I'm sure the lamia was no trouble for Lin. If all else failed she could probably have irritated it to death." Despite his untroubled facade, Roth's voice held an unmistakable note of anxiety. He pushed aside a cobweb that stood at about chest height and made a face as it clung to his hand. He swore as the sticky substance grew suddenly tense, and began to squeeze his hand with an increasing amount of pressure. "Devil's Silk!" he exclaimed, pulling at the substance. He pointed at it with his free hand and said something, but instead of the flame Roth had anticipated, a dull roar seemed to come from everywhere at once, slowly fading out into nothing. His eyes widened, and he spun to Karma and Linith. "I need a plant with pale blue leaves and small white flowers that bloom downwards. They must point downwards, otherwise they will be of no use to me. Go!" He reached into his robe with a free hand and bulled out a small bowl, which he set on the ground. He then took four small stones and set a large, flat stone and set it on top of the smaller stones, making a sort of table. He quickly pushed some dry twigs underneath it, and with a word and a gesture he had a small yet fierce fire. He then gestured at the air above the bowl and said something absently. The air seemed was very humid, and it seemed to wring itself out into the bowl. He set it on the flat stone and waited, rubbing the hand that was being constricted.

Karma quickly nodded and jumped off of her horse, figuring it would be easier on foot. She left the dead part of the woods of course and then started searching for the plant Roth had described. Karma pulled her blade out of the pack on her back and kept running, her eyes darting this way and that. Somehow she felt that she was being followed by someone other than Linith maybe and that someone kept tugging at her cloak. She turned her head slightly before running straight into a beast twice her size. "I fooled you!" He said triumphantly and quickly seized her by the shoulders. Karma glared at him then looked him up and down. Easy guess, it was a Centaur. His horse half was long and white with dark black hooves that kept stamping the ground. His upper half from the waist up was almost as white as the horse half's coat and he had long brown hair flowing freely and piercing brown eyes. "Why so angry, love?" He asked casually. "Oh I don't know, maybe it's because you're being a total moron while my friend might be dying at the moment!!!" Karma said. "Ah. Can I guess that it's Devil's Silk, eh? I put that there to trap you! You were the only one worth trapping, that other girl was far too young." "I'm getting tired of your damn chit chat!" Karma said. "Find me the damn plant with pale blue leaves and...and small white flowers that bloom...that bloom downwards, dammit!" "And what will you do for me if I do?" "You're not very hard to pursuade, are you?" The Centaur shook his head. "Not for young maiden's like yourself." Karma glared at the ground then glanced up and put on her best smile. "I'll grant you a kiss if you untangle the Devil's Silk from my friend's hand." The Centaur let go of her shoulders and smirked. "Follow me, fair maiden!" Karma followed him towards a dewy clearing and the Centaur handed her a small bouquet with pale blue leaves and small white flowers that bloomed downwards. Karma gave a sweeping curtsy and quickly kissed the Centaur on the cheek before running as fast as she could back towards Roth. "You missed!!" The Centaur called but Karma heard him only laugh and not follow her back.
"I got you your damned flowers and be appreciative!" Karma yelled putting them in front of Roth. "Now fix whatever mess you've gotten yourself into!"
(karma swears a lot...)

Roth snatched them from her and crushed them into a fine powder, which he carefull let sift into the water, which was now bubbling and steaming heartily. There was quite a bit more powder than water, and after Roth stirred it with a stick it began to form a pale blue paste. The affected hand began to crack softly, and Roth wasted no time in applying the paste to the silken material which was crushing his hand. The effect was not instantaneous, and Roth had to endure quite a bit more cracking before it began to ease. After a moment the stuff fell away like a tattered rag slipping listlessly off a clothes line, and Roth rubbed his hand. He checked his fingers, and winced as he tugged on one. He made a splint out of a small stick and the Devil's silk. He pointed at the Silk, and said something so quietly it appeared he was only mouthing the words. The roar was barely audible this time, and the Devil's Silk tensed up just enough to hold the stick and broken finger firmly in place. "Roth," he said to himself, "You are one clever fellow." With that, he stood up, dumped the contents of the bowl, which had become a fine blue powder, into a pouch, pocketed the bowl, scattered the fire and picked up his sword, which he had temporarily stuck in the ground. "Now we can continue. Oh and if you see something that looks like a cobweb, don't touch it. If you didn't learn that from this incident," he said, pointing at the hand which was only starting to recover it's natural color, "Your skull is made of very thick stuff indeed."

Karma was more than annoyed as the quick memory of kissing the obnoxious Centaur on the cheek flashed through her mind. "Like I said, be grateful." She muttered as she shook her head out of her thoughts and hopped back onto her horse. "I certainly hope we don't find anymore." It might mean especially bad news for me... Karma thought. She eased her horse into an easy trot and looked at Roth. "We still need to find Lin. She might be dead for all we know!"

Lin, now cornered somewhere roughly a half of a mile below the earth, wimpered at what was situated some fifteen feet in front of her. Twelve skeletons had now sprung to life and were tripping over one another to be the first to the little elf.
"Uncle Roth..." She sniffed and continued to back up. Suddenly she found she couldn't move. "What.. what is this?!" A cobwebt stuck part way into what was appearently a hologram of a part of the maze. Within seconds it's creator had dropped down upon the skeletons, scooped up Lin and began to carry her back up to it's home above the laberynth. "Maybe the Lamia was better after all..." Lin muttered, trying to think of a way out of this new predicament.
In the mean time, the Lamia was hidden in her cavern, awaiting the arrival of the rest of the group. Shortly after kidnapping Lin, the spider send the girl's white down to the Lamia, after splashing it with some of Lin's blood. Lin was left only her vest and was kept in a place where no one coming into the room could see her. She was brought back to the laberynth and the spider's web up on the high ceiling. She was also drugged into unconsciousness.

Roth walked along the dark tunnel, letting the point of his sword scrape along the ground behind him. A sizeable flame burnt in the palm of his hand, casting an orange glow about the tunnel. He continued down the tunnel, until he stopped suddenly. "Show yourself, foul creature," he said, pointing his sword towards the spot where the lamia hid.

Karma looked in the place where Roth pointed his sword then hopped off the horse once again, revieling her chained sickle. "What have you done with Lin?!!" She screamed suddenly. "You better not have hurt her! I'll kill you!"

The Lamia smiled at them. Her entire body was hidden by a cloak and shadow, save for her beautifull face.
"Poor puppets..." Her smile was almost too sweet. Extending her one perfect hand, she revealed the shirt stained with blood. A considerable amount of blood. "She tasted quite good." The shirt was cast to the floor at their feet. The blood was deffinatly Lin's.

Roth considered the shirt only a moment before leaping at the lamia with considerable agility. The sword cut through the air towards the creature's throat.

Karma was struck speechless, everything seemed to go in slow motion. She watched Roth leap towards the Lamia and her chained sickle sunk into her own hand as she gripped the blade so tight. She didn't even feel the pain. Her arm shook. But suddenly she blinked and watched Roth's blade go for the Lamia's throat and she loosened her grip on her sickle.

The Lamia was caught a little by surprise, but quickly backed into the shadows, hissing with a serpant-like tongue. Then she chuckled. He had just scrapped her throat, nothing more. It wasn't for some time before she recognized the deeper wound in her shoulder.
"Would you care to join your friend?" She whispered seductively. "I'm sure she misses you. She cried in such a small little voice. 'Uncle Roth!' she said. You should have seen the tears"

"Shut up!!" Karma screamed, her wrist flicking harshly and the sickle flying through the air. "You're lying! Where's Lin?!!" Blood dripped into the dust from Karma's palm. "Where is she!?! You know, I know you do!"

Linith stood next to Karma, glaring at the Lamia. She's lieing, she's lieing. He took his bow from his back and with it a single arrow. He placed the arrow on the bow, but did not string it, instead pointed it downwards and was ready to fire at any second. "You know...you're quite ugly." Linith said before raising the bow and stringing the bow. He pulled it as far as he could without breaking the string and released it. The arrow flew through the air with a whistle and headed for the area below the Lamia's head.

The arrow missed, flying through the dark, and hiting something else with a distinct crack that sounded nothing like the stone walls that surrounded them. There was a hiss and the sound of something spitting, then scuttling away. The spider fled back through passages and to the laberynth where it disappeared into the shadows.
In the mean time, a sharp blade came up behind Roth, intent on breaking clear through his spine. The Lamia was directly behind it, having moved silently to her newest position.

Roth parried the knife easily, the blue blade humming as it cut through the air. He turned and swung the sword in a wide arc, all the while thinking. He realized Lin was probably still alive, and a quick glance down the tunnel made him realize that she had probably walked farther into the creature's trap, and the longer they spent fighting this creature the more likely she would die. With that, he whispered something that produced a ball of fire, which sped towards the lamia behind the sword.
