The Lamia shrieked as the fire finally caught her. Stuck between a bow, a sword and a sickle, she had no where to move away from the fireball. Her scales flashed and her hair started to burn, the monstrous arm reaching here and there for a way to send off the devouring flames. Even with this spell, it would be quite some time before she died. It was merely a distraction, but enough of one so that they had sufficient time to continue down the tunnel.
Lin lost more blood, the rest rushing to her head. She couldn't see and was losing her sense of all feelings besides a massive headache.
Ugh... This was unpleasent to say the least. Not that the others would be able to see her once they entered the labyrenth. Only the scythe mark on the wall where she had hoisted herself up, and even that was faint.

Karma squinted down the tunnel and wrapped the chain of her sickle around her bleeding hand. "I'm going to find Lin!" She screamed and ran down the darkening tunnel, strangely, with her eyes closed. Linny, stay alive so I can find you. Stay alive so you can be alive. Stay alive so we can defeat what's his name. Stay alive, I'll give you anything out of my backpack. Stay alive so I can find you. Karma saw red dots in front of her eyes along with other colors but they seemed faded. "Lin!!" She screamed and kept running.

Suddenly there was the sound of a rushed scraping behind Karma. The giant spider had made it's second appearance as well as a point of chasing her down the tunnel and towards the catacombs. It snapped it's jaws, clearly intent on her blood. If she made it all the way to the catacombs, she would find two of the immediate four exits blocked by the undead.
And still, somewhere up above, hidden by shadows, was an extensive web from which hung multiple cocoons.

"Alleyway!" Karma yelled. "Say something, I know you're around here! PLease, Lin, I'm trying to help you!" She stopped for a moment, becoming aware of the scraping sound behind her and the dark green aura she was starting to feel. "Dammit." Karma continued to run, keeping her sickle at her side. What was that putrid smell? Smelling like something had gone bad...?

Reality seemed a funny thing at the moment. For a while, Lin could have sworn she was running after Karma, intent on taking her by surprise. The next, colors drifted over her eyes and she was lost in a world of darkness. Then the chase resumed.
I'll catch Karma and play a fun little trick on her! The voice in her head seemed to whisper gleefully. On and on, the same mantra over and over. Sometimes the voice snickered and Lin thought she felt a shiver and then a glint. The eggs were nearby, almost ready to hatch. Just a little more blood and the tiny girl would be used as the sacrifice, said the voice. Lin thought it was her own, and lethargically agreed. As time progressed, the voice seemed to be getting excited. I'll catch Karma, I'll catch Karma, I'll eat Karma- I'll-
Wait, say what?!
Huh? Like getting hit with a brick, Lin felt a pain in her head and was forced back to reality, the voice now swearing at her to go away. That's when Lin realized what had happened.
She had been within the mind of the spider and she was 'the little one'. She was also five pounds lighter than she had been before getting caught. Five pounds lighter and only barely awake. Still, with the help of a certain bird, she was able to climb from her cocoon and cling to the web. Her eyes were bloodshot as she looked around and finally crawled away blindly, let by Mithinrei. On and on and on and on. The web extended off to another room and it was along this cord that Lin crawled. Soon she was on a ledge above a room that glowed with a thousand other cocoons.
And the biggest bloodsucking army of insects the Dark Lord was preparing to surprise the earth. Lin blinked wearily, not noticing the deep cuts on her side. She licked her dry lips and tried to make sense of it, but couldn't. Her mind was moving too slowly. Finally, after fifteen minutes of sitting there, she thought of something.
Somewhere off to her left was a huge of container of keroseen, appearently left to teach the young what was bad if touched. Stumbling about, Lin found a dry stick and dipped the end into the oil, lit it with a struggled burst of magic, and threw it down into the abyss of eggs. At first there was nothing, but within minutes the entire room was ablaze, the helpless young being eaten alive by the flames. The smoke soon poured out of the room and down into the catacombs, slowly filling the caves. The young screamed in agony and the huge spider, in panic, jumped in front of Karma and burst ahead, rushing into the catacombs, intent on finding it's young.
In the mean time, Lin was on the other side of the chamber, having stumbled through several other tunnels. After a very long time she was at the mouth of a dry cave, stumbling out into the sun. She looked ragged and had lost her hat. If Karma continued forward, she would find it, in quite fine condition, the feather still in it's playfull curl. The scythe was abandoned on the ground nearby and the cloak had been ripped right from Lin's small shoulders and left, tattered, hanging from the side of the tunnel.
Blinking up at the light, Lin slowly found the sky getting bigger and the ground shrinking away. She fell backwards and lay on the ground, arms twisted into strange angles. The blood had clotted in her wounds, but they would open anew if so much as touched, so fresh were they. The scar on her arm had turned black and begun to throb. To top if off, a very tiny spider had crawled to her neck and given her a deep bite, injecting her with something before it began to drain away more of her blood. As it did, it became bloated and began to increase in size. Now at fifty-five pounds ((Yes, I've changed her weight- I'm going to say she started at 60 lbs. as she is roughly 3 feet tall. ;D)) and with hardly any color in her face, Lin's face started to gain a hint of green with the effect of the drug. If left to live, the spider at her neck could easily become a replacement for the one that had chased Karma within the caverns.

Karma was screaming for Lin still but then as the spider jumped over her she fell backward, watching it scramble ahead. She hurried to get up and kept running....running...running, then slipping. A feather? Karma sat up once again and stared at the hat with the plume feather curling out just like before. The hat was barely battered. She picked it up and gripped it tightly. "Alleyway Lin! Please, LIn, say something!!! Linny!" She searched quickly, scanning the entire of the caves for her. She found two more things of Lin's soon enough, Her torn cloak and scratched sythe. Karma couldn't help but start to cry. She stared at her hands watching the rushes of purple glow through them. Most of the time, the whole world was colorful to her eyes. When she looked in the mirror, she saw dark blues, oranges, lavenders in the shape of a person. She only knew what she looked like within. She only knew people by their auras. Lin's was so playfull, so much yellow and light blue, so much green and orange. "Lin! PLease, say something!!!" This...everything was dark. The only light she saw came from her hands. "Please...Lin..." She fan forward, almost meeting her doom when she slipped over the edge of a crevasse but caught herself with Lin's sythe and quickly hauled herself back up. She suddenly saw the sun's shining light and a mixture of lots of orange, blue, green, and yellow and lots and lots of red. "Lin!!!" Karma ran around the crevasse and slid down beside Lin. She breathed hard. "I found you..." She murmured then swatted gently at the side of Lin's neck. "....Can I save you, Linny?"

At first Lin made no reply, but after a long time she opened her eyes. They were glazed over and her face was flushed with fever.
"Karma... where did the... flutterthing go...?" She muttered some other unintelligable, random nonsense before some of her words clarified themselves. "I want... an opossum... Karma..." For but a moment the glassy look started to fade and it seemed that her eyes focused. A tear rolled down her cheek. "It hurts." And then back to the soft unintelligent muttering and unfocused vision. Eventually even that stopped and she was quiet, only occassionally breaking out into the ramblings. The falcon was perched somewhere above them, but flew down and crushed the tiny spider with it's beak before it could run off.

Karma crushed the bloated spider under her thumb and watched Lin. "We're going to get out of here..." She said and grabbed Lin's cloak, wrapping it around her. She packed everything except Lin's sythe in her bag then pulled Lin into her arms and carried the sythe as well. Karma looked at Lin and gave a reassuring smile. "You're going to be just fine...we'll get you healed up in no time. I promise, okay?" She hoped this wasn't an empty promise as she carried Lin and her sythe through cave opening and into the brush. For a moment she realized her knee had started throbbing in pain and looked at it. She hadn't noticed that her knee was literally torn up from her little escapade in the caves to find Lin. She watched it bleed down her leg but ignored it as she limped through the forest. "Roth!! Linith! Lin's injured!!" She yelled, hoping they'd hear her. Karma could feel the flesh ripping on her exposed knee and gnats trying to get at it but she continued intil she leaned against the tree, realizing that the pain was too much in her knee, and that the bone was now exposed on her knee. "Lin...we...we're going to get you fixed up. Even if that means breaking my leg, I won't let you die!" Karma said as she walked once more, clenching her teeth from the searing pain in her leg.

Roth stood over the fallen lamia for nearly a minute before he realized Karma was gone. The sword made a slick, oily sound as it slid into its sheath. There was a sharp clack that announced it was away and Roth hurried deeper into the gloom. Roth could hear Karma shout every so often, but it seemed to come from every direction, and gave him no clue as to her location. He sped through the twists and turns of the narrow corridors, taking turns based on his sense of direction, which he did not doubt was seriously impaired, especially after running around this far underground in what could very well be circles. The bugs caught him totally by surprise. They were the size of squirrels, but weighed virtually nothing, so Roth didn't notice them until there were about fifty of them clinging to his legs. He cried out in surprise as he spotted the dozens of beady black eyes gazing up at him, and noticed the glint of what he presumed were many mandibles, moving hungrily. As he slowly realized what had made running so difficult, his first instinct was to panic. To run screaming about the maze, roll on the ground, maybe crash into a few walls, just for good measure. Fortunately, reason decided to join the party at this instant, and told him to get it together. Something in the back of his head noticed that he couldn't feel his legs anymore, and patiently informed the rest of him that this should be a cause of alarm. However, reason maintained a cool, steady hand on his mental faculties, and told him the first thing he should do was create a source of light. Roth had not thought of this. He had been hurrying through the maze in total darkness; years of practice and necessity had taught him how make his way in darkness. There was a dull pop and the corridor was bather in flickering firelight. There were at least a hundred of them. Slick, brown bodies that made a collective squeal and shrank back a bit from the fire which hovered about two inches above Roth's sweaty hand. The squeal was echoed down the hall, and this puzzled Roth for a moment. Then he saw the floor writhe back from the light, one teeming brown mass, and thousands of shadows flicked along the wall, away from Roth. Roth panicked then. He released his control over the fire with such force that it exploded outwards for an instant before dying. It was this action that saved Roth's life. There was another squeal, far louder this time, which echoed through the corridors of the maze. It seemed the entire corridor in which Roth stood was on fire. Roth realized with a sort of detatched irritation that his legs seemed to be on fire. While the outside of his mind panicked, something deep inside extended itself down his legs and around his feet before pushing outwards, sending dozens of flaming brown bodies flying in all directions. He stared for a moment at the destruction he had just caused before running down the hall, away from it. When Roth regained control of himself, the first thing he noticed were the bones. Piles of them. The walls seemed to be made of bones. Roth looked down at himself. He was propped against a pile of skulls. When he moved his head his neck hurt, so he tried not to move it. He tried to think of a reason he would have been sleeping in catacombs, and it all came back to him. He shuddered once and tried to stand up. He got about halfway up before his legs gave out. He howled with pain as he hit the ground and grabbed his legs. There were at least fifty tiny holes and scratches, and the muscles in his legs ached. He sat there a moment, rubbing them before he noticed the skeletons on the floor. The skeletons were not in a heap. They were laid out carefully, four of them, in the middle of the hall. They appeared to have helmets, and long, wickedly curved swords lay near their hands. He saw something move on one, and dismissed it as a rat or snake which had made a nest in the bones. He looked at his legs... He saw movement out of the corner of his eye, and a faint grating noise. He looked over at the skeletons before shaking his head. His neck protested this gesture and he winced, rubbing it tenderly. He saw dark spots, and couldn't make out anything in the darkness. There was that grating again, but closer. Roth made an impatient noise and a flame popped into existence above his hand. What he saw in the light were two skeletons staring down at hi,. brandishing long swords. Roth swore and reached for his sword.
(Too tired to go on. Allaraina was bugging me for a long post, so there it is.)

Linith poked the Lamia as Roth ventured deeper into the cave. "Hey wait..." Linith said but i was too late, Roth was already out of sight. "Bye sunlight..." hhe whispered as he looked back at the cave entrance. Turning back around he ran into the cave and looked for Roth and KArma. When he reached the light's boundries, he reached into his back and lit a torch (don't ask how). He walked through the cave at first, but then quickened his pace as he realized that Karma and Lin might be dying. He ran through the cave, looking at the walls with an morbid fascination. "Karma? Roth?" he yelled.

((Serves you right for not posting in forever! ;D ))
Somewhere above Roth's head was a loud shriek. Mithinrei, the falcon, had come flying back into the caves, quite conscious of the fact that not everyone was together. He had heard the spiders crying that there was someone throwing hot stuff at them and so had rushed off in the direction from which they were fleeing. Many of them were dead and the remainder ended up running right back into their burning nest, their bodies shriveling up from the heat before they realized what had happened. Spotting Roth and his adversaries, the falcon spiraled up towards the ceiling before turning and bolting back down, stricking at the undead. As it happened, he crashed right into the skull of one of the things, causing it to fall to the ground in splinters. Shrieking in fury, Mithinrei turned on the other, harrassing it with his long talons.
Outside, Lin was looking steadily worse, her cheeks losing more of their color, her hair seeming to grow more limp. Sometimes she would open her eyes and mutter, sometimes reach for a pocket or a bag, as though looking for something and, in her sickness, uncertain of where she had left it. Her lips had become chapped and started to peel and at one point she thought she had tasted blood. Whether it had come from her lips, her tongue- which she thought she might have bitten- or somewhere else, she couldn't tell.

Roth regarded to falcon for a moment, recognized it and removed the remaining skeleton's head with a quick slice of the sword. The body staggered aimlessly about for a moment, until Roth crushed the skull beneath his foot. The bones rattled as they formed a pile on the floor. Roth found the sound chilling, and shivered a little. He looked at the falcon. "Where's Lin?" he asked it slowly, as if speaking to someone who wasn't really expected to understand.

The Falcon gave an insulted chirp before turning and flying back through the caves, pausing every now and then as if not really expecting Roth to be able to keep up. Once they were outside, it flew directly towards Lin and Karma, circled over their heads and then bolted back into the caves as if to hunt down their last party member.
Lin's condition hadn't changed to much. Which meant she hadn't worsened too much. She was still dilerious, bleeding and disgustingly pale. Her eyes, which fell open every now and then, were completely glazed over and unseeing. There was a bit of froth on the corner of her mouth and a greenish-blue tint near her eyelids and lips.

Karma finally collapsed against another tree, with Lin still in her arms. "Lin...I'm sorry..." She gritted her teeth looking at her bloody knee. The bone was exposed now, the whole half of her leg red with blood. "Roth! Linith!" She shouted, trying to get attention. She looked desperately at Lin. "Lin, please be okay...I know you can hear me!" She shook Lin's shoulders a bit then sighed, sliding the bag off of her back. She lied Lin in the clearing, setting her sythe beside her, and searched through the bag. "I've got to...have something in here for you, Lin..."
Dagger...no. Lin's hat wasn't going to help anyone. There was some expesive perfume she had bought at a bargain, various trinkets... Karma wiped the sweat from her brow, her face flushed. "I'm so sorry, Lin!" She cried.
