((Merp.... My kitty's not very good at fighting today, is he? Not right now, anyhow....Oh well.))

As Rob sat there, looking at the fire burning, he noticed an animal come out of the shadows. "Ooooh, a horse!" he said out loud, standing up and beginning to walk towards it. Soon, thoughts of riding on it and petting it came across his mind, but he stopped in midstride, thinking to himself. If there's a horse here, then where's the rider? He hurried back to the fire and grab his book, making sure that if anyone came he would be able to defend himself.

"Because you've wandered into the territory of a predator, and because I'm hungry."
Damaris leaned closer, sinking the sleek, sharpened sickle claws deeper into the kitty's back. The claws began to curl inwards as soon as they felt blood, or whatever lay benieth Mr. Kitty's back ; fur, flesh, bone, whatever. The reptile crouched lower still, her head and neck poised to strike a fatal blow to the kitty's neck. Still aware of the dirk held in the his paws, the lizard spoke on.
"And don't tell me that you have a magical sack that produces fresh meat and such, I had a three-mooned bellyache thanks to a smart one like that."
The dirk flew to the side of Damaris' face, just as she rested her elbows to her knees. Shooting out to the side like an angered cobra, she was forced to dislodge both her sickle claws from the cat's back in order to leap off to the side. The dirk didn't have a long way to go, so a small puncture wound was evident in the side of Damaris' face, the same side which the cat had scarred earlier.
"You jussst love scarring my face, don't you Kitty-cat ?"
Simontaniously, back at the camp, Omigi was still there with the human arrival. She had heard and sensed a bit of the roughest parts of the battle between her master and the cat, but the mare still didn't have a clear image of who was doing what. She worried for Damaris. Keeping her still eyes on the human, she let out a sharp whinny of surprise when he stopped suddenly. She flattened her ears lightly, and took a step back. And when he made it evident that he was growing suspicious of the camp, Omigi reared her head and boldly went over to him and nudged his arm.
Damaris flicked her head over to the direction of the camp, hearing her friend's call. She narrowed her eyes, looked back at the cat with a distinct frown of disapointment, and made a leap into the trees, saying this to the cat :
"Hmph. It looks like you'll be spared for a few more heartbeats... also, don't make me come hunting you down again... you'll just make your wounds more painful to bear."

[glow=red,2,900] With the book in his hand, he felt the horse nudge his arm. "Er..." he said as he slightly touched the horse. Sighing, he began to stroke the cranium. Looking around ferverishly, he still a had some doubts about this situtation. You're overreacting. It's probably just some traveler... HIs attempts to calm himself down failed, and he started breathing more heavily.

Jyp got up slowly, muttering to himself. "No, I don't have a magical sack, though it'd be nice, I'm just as hungry as you." he grumbled. "Jerk." He winced slightly as he stood up, then leaned against a tree. He looked around for his cloak, and spotted it. After putting his dirk away and picking up his sword, he retreived his cloak and put it on. "Might as well follow the lizard, since the leatherhead's gonna eat my anyways." he said under his breath, then ran quietly over to the camp-site. He leaned against a tree when he was in sight of the camp, watching the horse and the newcomer. His back hurt mightily, and a small growl from his stomach reminded him that he was starving. "I swear, that lizard's a jerk." he muttered, rubbing the parts of his back he could reach, feeling the depth and extremity of the wounds.

Omigi nizzled the stranger as she stepped closer, sniffing here and there for her late-night snack. She issued some soft, friendly whinnies in hopes of calming the poor lad. It had always worked for her lizard companion Damaris, so why not this little one here ? Besides, the more nervous he was , the more caution he would have coiled up and ready to spring into a fight. The best thing to assure Damaris' meal-to-come was to lower this boy's guard.
"Bah"
The lizard had this single thought in her head, along with another stream of steady combacks she intended on barking out at the cat who had called her a leatherhead. That lousy skinmeat-blubberless-furbag-narbuck-hardtoget-little-mongrel ... The reptile's lips moved with her mutters inside her head, but no sounds were ever made. She slowed her pace as she neared the camp, and as she looked (more like snifffed) back for the cat, she saw that he wasn't too far off from the camp. Damaris had to make her move before he arrived at the camp.
Hidden yet again in the thick branches of the tree overlooking the campsite, the reptile had managed to position herself a few paces away and above the boy. She had crept amongst the leaves, stalking her prey as a lionness would in the tall grasses. The lizard had been quick, but unfortunately, the cat sprite had already made it back, and a faint wift of blood began to spread in the campsite. Damaris waited patiently for Omigi to move out of her striking 'zone'.

Well there doesn't seem to be an owner... That's where Rob made his mistake. Assuming that he was alone and letting down his guard. Lower his arm and letting his tome rest at his side, he pet the horse softly. "This just seems too inviting...Oh well, I'm just being paranoid."

Jyp watched Rob carefully, pondering whether or not he should just let him get eaten, or warn him. Jyp's tail swished slowly, as he searched the trees for Damaris. Biting his lip, Jyp sighed quietly, then walked over to Rob, casually, as if the camp was his and no one else was around. "Who're you?" he asked suspiciously of Rob.

"Well..." Rob said slowly, wondering if he could trust this person. Well, no harm in telling him my name, right? "I'm Robert. Who are you, and is this your fire and horse?" He motioned towards the two, with a suspcious look.

((Whoa, whoa , whoa.... I noticed you said 'motioned towards the two' Bandit... are you refering to Damaris or Omigi ? Because my lizard is sort of hidden in the trees... I'll continue on and change my reply later if that's the case. ))
Upon hearing the distictive sound of Jyp's voice, Omigi subconciously lifted her head up and gave a quick look at him. She made a small move towards him, but then moved back to the boy and resumed nuzzling his clothes for a snack. From the looks and sounds of it, Jyp was probably putting on a show for this stranger, but why ? Decieving possible prey was her job, Omigi had always thought. Oddly enough, the mare's split thoughts were evident in her whinnying, which had grown sparse.
All this time, Damaris lay belly-first in her bungalow of branches. Heck, for both Omigi and that ol' Puss to move AND for this new guy to get into a good spot for attack would take ages. She stretched recklessly and growled inside her mind, unlike her still-empty stomach, which gave a light little squeal. Damaris quickly realized this, and stiffened quickly in hopes of covering up her mistake... thank whatever her stomach sounded at the voice of this ... Robert.
Damaris licked her lips hungrily, the fine, rank blood of the cat-sprite literally wafting up to her as he stood his ground near Robert. The reptiles knuckles tightened as her grasp on the bark grew, and the hinges on her arms and legs creaked, longing for that fatal jump at the boy.

OoC| I meant the fire & horse. |
"Hmm, what is it you want? Food? Sorry, I barely have enough for myself...for tonight." He muttered that last bit, looking at his bag. Where am I going to get food?

"Ah, 'tis alright. I don't have any food either." Jyp replied. He looked around casually again. "Why're you here?" He avoided the question of whose horse and fire they were. His tail swished slowly as he looked at Rob. "Well, I don't suppose you've noticed that this ain't exactly the safest place to be at night...Have you?"

OoC| He was talking to the horse, "resumed nuzzling his clothes for a snack". Ah well, it's ok.|
"Yes...this place is dangerous." What's with all these questions? Why hasn't he answered one of mine yet? "I'll answer my quesiton when you answer mine! Are these your things or not?" Rob was getting annoyed with the questions and lack of answers.

Jyp bit back an angry reply, and, instead, calmly said, "No, they aren't mine, but I don't think you'd like to meet the real owner of all this." He muttered under his breath and looked around again.
(Everyone seems to be online today...Yay!))

OoC| Woo! : D|
"Really? Well...thanks I guess. I'm here because I was a scholar, but my teacher sent me out to stay here for a couple of days. Something about learning..." He quietly muttered discipline, as he wanted to leave that part out. "And you?" he asked, curious of why this cat sprite would be wandering out in the foerst at night.
