"Ah. nothing." Pax replied. If she had her hood down, and if you looked closely, you might've seen a tinge of red below her grey fur. The leopard brushed against her and approached Faerth. Pax looked at the leopard, and her cat-like ears twitched beneath the hood, the bumps you could see on her head when the cloak was over it moved also.

Faerth looked from Pax to the leopard and back again curiously, his eyes turned gold again as the large feline approached him, but he refrained from reaching towards his dagger, he knew he wasn't fast enough in this body for it to make a difference if the leopard decided to attack, so for the moment he'd pray. Wildwind caught the movement under the hood, and the slight aura he was sensing began to make sense to him. He said nothing though. He could be mistaken it wasn't as if he had all of his power, just the merest fraction of it thanks to the blood-mage who'd trapped him. Too, it wasn't his place to reveal someone who seemed to want to remain hidden, after all, he preferred his anonymity, even if it tended to be more and more fleeting.

The leopard, Thunderstorm, sniffed at Faerth, then sat down, looking at him with her gold and brown eyes. She had a golden pelt, mostly, with black spots. Her paws, except one, were black, and so was the tip of her tail. She stood up, then suddenly did a sort of half-jump, and placed her front paws on Faerth's shoulders, looking deep into his eyes. "Don't be scared, sir." Pax cautioned. "Thunder won't hurt you."

"Oh good." Faerth said in a rather strained voice as his eyes shifted from gold to the yellow of utter panic. "You know, I was rather worried about that, thank you ever so for the reassurance." his sarcasm tended to come out full force when he was scared out of his wits for some reason or another. He managed to hod absolutely still as Thunderstorm's eyes meet his, wishing now more than ever that he'd retained the ability to mindspeak. He hated not knowing what people and beings were thinking, and he'd've liked to have some way to get a warning if Thunderstorm decided she didn't like whatever it was she saw in her search.

Thunderstorm landed on the ground, sending puffs of dust into the air from the path, then rubbed hard against Faerth's leg, much like cats do, and purred loudly. "Ah, well, that's good, then." Pax said, looking down at Darkfire as if addressing the wolf. She raised an eyebrow at Faerth. "Someone with a good sense of sarcasm, finally." She said. "Got a sense of humor, too?"

"I think I may've lost it somewhere." Faerth said honestly. "Sarcasm is as close as it gets... Do you mind telling me ~what~ that was about, precisely?" he asked, staggering slightly as Thunderstorm brushed against his legs. He wasn't in the best of health, and leopards are not housecats but as she didn't seem about to rip him to bits, he allowed one of his hands to gently touch her rough fur for an instant before recalling that she was pax's familiar and thus off-limits to casual touch. "Sorry." he said

"It's fine, go ahead and pet them all you want." She said. "They like it." Thunder proved this by rubbing her head against Faerth's hand. "Well, animals have a way of sensing whether or not someone's trustworthy. She says you are...for now."

Faerth submitted to the feline and resumed petting her. Wildwind wondered what ((hehe alliteration!)) else Thunderstorm had decided to tell Pax about him. "Just for now?" he asked with an uplifted brow he gave a small smile to the cat-sprite as his eyes began to return to a green tone, it was perhaps the first time in eighteen years his mood had allowed that shade to enter his eyes, black and yellow and red being emotions that were far more common to him these days.

Pax smiled. "Yeah, for now. Animals an make mistakes too, y'know." She finally pulled back her hood, revealing her cat-like ears and face. "Where're you going right now?" she asked him. "And, umm, what's with the bracelet-type...things?" She blushed, though you could hardly see it, and looked down. "Sorry." she mumbled. "None o' me business."

He'd been about to give his general vague answer about his direction when she asked her second question. He barely heard her apology as he froze. "So you can see that things are not al that they appear to be as wwell, hmm?" he murmured quietly he gave a soft laugh "You'd be surprised how many can't see the mage runes for what they are, who'd try to steal them from me...If only they could." he added in a whisper. His eyes had returned to their customary black hue. The black of his darkest thoughts. So absorbed in them he forgt to pet Thunderstorm for a moment, but he resumed with a murmured apology to the feline.

"I'm sorry. Thunder told me...Y'know, she said...that you used to be a dragon." Pax mumbled something. "Sorry, I shoudn't've said that..." Thunder rubbed against Faerth's leg one last time, then loped off into the trees(Is this a forest? And is it day or night? Sorry.) Darkfire followed her quickly. Pax looked at the somewhat distantly.

((forest yep, day I think...otherwise faerth would probably get himself even more lost )) Faerth sighed "I prefer to know that you know, rather than having to guess." He stood there looking at Pax, who both seemed worldly and young... though that may just come from a dragon who's still just five hundred years into his full adulthood. "I suppose the tense is aso correct. Though Gods know I'm hoping to get out of this cursed body someday. You bipeds have no idea hoow hard this really is!" he said fervently "I don't understand how most of you can get aong without a tail to keep you balanced... present company excepted of course." he said

Pax grinned. "I know how it is, somewhat." She said, almost to herself. "So, you gonna tell me or what?" She rubbed her stomach, which had just growled, loudly. "I'm hungry..."

Faerth shrugged helpessly "I'm afraid there I cannot help you, Pax. Most animals sense me coming before I can see them, squirrels are the only things stupid enough to ignore the aura I seem to have." he gave a wry smile. "And I can only catch the slowest of them."

Pax grinned again. She seemed to grin a lot when she was happy..."I don't catch animals unless I seriously am dying of starvation...It's mean, when you kill animals for reasons such as their pelts or food that ye don't need." She sighed. "I mean, eating meat is a way of life, can't deny that, but unless you absolutely have to kill the animal for fur, don't."
