A tall, white robed figure strode through the dense, marketplace crowd, brown leather bag slung over one shoulder. It parted before him, giving him a wide berth. As they passed, many strained to peer into the deep shadows of the hood, but it was better that they saw nothing. Inside the hood was a slender, dog-like face, furred in short, silky black fur. Tall ears, pierced multiple times by gold hoops, were slicked back, making the cowl sit better. His eyes were dark amber, outlined in blue and gold paint. They viewed the world with gentle good humor. The body clothed by the white linen robe was muscled by years of strenuous exercise and battle. Hidden beneath the hem were dog-like, clawed feet. On his shoulder was a white scar shaped like an ankh, the reason for his nickname.
Ankh was an Anubite, a Child of Anubis, god of embalming and the Underworld. His age, in time that passed, would have been several thousand years, though he was only in his early twenties. The reason for this was that he had spent almost his whole life in the Field of Reeds, land of the Egyptian pantheon. Ankh had been born during the golden time of Ancient Egypt, at the height of their civilization. The wondrous time soon fell though, during the Great War. The war that raged across all of the world. Humans against the mythological creatures. In Egypt it was particularily terrible, bringing their civilization into a spiral to ruin. After the war, all mythological creatures went into hiding for their own safety. But for Ankh, lounging about in the Field for centuries after roaming Egypt and battling for most of his life, was a dreadful bore. He went to Anubis, begging him to allow him back into the human world. He relented, after all, it was not as if he could not fetch Ankh back at a moment's notice. At first, he traveled Egypt, but found the crumbling remains of his civilization depressing. He left Egypt and began roaming the rest of the world, particularily the great kingdoms of Europe. There, he found strange happenings.
Not all mythological creatures had god-parents they could escape to. The hundreds of species of creatures were under attack. A strange man was having them hunted, captured, then sold into slavery or killed. Ankh was granted a task: Find this man and save the creatures of myth.

"Now come on, fellas, what's a few gold coins between friends?" Jyp asked pleadingly as he was backed up against the alley wall. Three men were in front of the short cat-sprite, but one, a burly, sun-tanned and black-haired man was in front, seeming to be the leader. "'Friends'?" asked the leader, scowling. "Well, lookithat, Slane!" said one of the others. "Little kitty wants to be friends!" Jyp shuddered. He had large, fuzzy cat-like ears, a tail, and paws.He was covered in reddish fur, a slightly darker shade than his short hair. The cat-sprite wore a pair of baggy, red pants, tunic, and a maroon cloak. "First of all," Slane said, narrowing his eyes at Jyp. "We ain't friends. Second of all, it wasn't just a few coins. It was a whole sack o' gold, plus some valuables to boot. Hand them over." Jyp's eyes were wide. "I-i don't have them." He muttered. SLane raised an eyebrow. "Whadja say?" he asked dangerously. Jyp snarled. "I don't have them, ya bunch o' yellow-bellied boot-kissers!" One of the other men, a sandy-haired, skinny person, snorted. "Boot-kissers? You shoulda heard y'self a few seconds ago-" "Cool it, Brunk!" Slane snapped. He drew a broadsword from his belt. Jyp tried to flatten himself against the wall as he drew his own sword.
((Yes, it's a stinky intro...Very sorry.))

Ankh noticed a disturbance in a nearby alley. His sensitive nose managed to sort through the myriad of smells in the air, many of them unpleasant. Whomever was in that alley, was not human. Perhaps the rough men there had something to do with the deaths and disappearances of the mythological creatures. It was worth a look. Adjusting the strap of his bag, he ambled over. The Anubite leant against the brick wall, arms crossed. "Is there a problem, gentlemen?" he asked softly in accented Common. He smiled slightly. "I do not believe that it would be wise for you to handle such weapons. You might hurt someone, or more likely, yourselves."

Slane glanced over at Ankh. "Nothing for you to worry about." He said, eyeing him. Jyp glanced at the Anubite curiously, then tried slipping away from the group, but brunk roughly grabbed him by the arm. "We just have a little disagreement. He owes me money, you might say." Slane continued.

Ankh reached up and lowered his hood, smiling good-naturedly at them. "Well, then perhaps I may help. I've been educated, probably better than the both of you put together." He couldn't resist adding a little smart-alec remark. These men were so easy to make fun of! He noticed the strange, cat-like creature. He did not look happy. Oh yes, something was definately up; it was not a simple matter of owing money. Perhaps the cat-creature could be one of Sekhmet's? The lion goddess had more than one type of god-children and he resembled one set vaguely. He gave a mental shudder; it was because he harassed one of her children that he had his ankh-scar. He didn't quite take no for an answer from her; he was too insistant and she had no interest in him. So, she struck him down and caused him terrible pain in punishment. she left him the scar to forever remember to not be lecherous.

Curious opals gazed upon what seemed to be a fret within the alley, her alley. She was upset by such happenings for it usually aroused her from her rest. Not a very safe thing to do by her terms. Eyelids had opened to reveal a large tawny iris surrounded by a sea of white coloring. Nostrils flared to pick up the scent of a close relative, another cat being like herself.
A black tail wrapped around her legs which where covered with black pants along with a hole in the back of them for her tail. Her complete body was covered with an ebony coat yet she still had a human formed body with the exception of her tail and few other parts.
She had a bit of a snout and round ears, which was common for a leopard creature. Upon her upper torso she wore a black shirt that matched her onyx bottoms. Though she had to stop herself from entering the fray when another appeared into the alley.
Cautiously she listened to the words given below for she rested upon the roof of a building. Yet what caught her off guard was the face of the newcomer for her was a child of Anubis like they would say. Perhaps he would be able to settle this all?

Slane rose an eyebrow. "Ah, so you think yore smart?" he growled. Jyp pulled a face at them all. "I'm smart!" he protested. "Most of the time, anyways...Now, could you let me go, please?" Brunk snorted. "Not a chance, half-breed." he grunted. Jyp's eyes flashed anger and his tail lashed, but he kept quiet, struggling a tiny bit.

"Of course I think I am smart." He flashed another brilliant, pointy grin. "I am not the one attempting to steal from a god-child. I suggest you do as he says. You'd not like to receive the wrath of them that rule over our kind." Ankh reached into his robe, wrapping his hand around the hilt of one of his khopesh, the Egyptian sickle sword. While he would rather not resort to violence, he was prepared to. The Anubite lowered his bag to the ground, selecting a marginally cleaner area. Then he reached into his robe with the other hand and grabbed the hilt of his other khopesh. "Leave now or face the consequences." Ankh growled, good humor gone, his accent thickening.

((Lol. Death to the n00bs!!))
"What a second! 'God-child'?"Jyp asked, clearly confused. In his somewhat short lifetime, he had never worshiped anyone, and wasn't planning to soon, either. Slane glared at Ankh angrily. "Go away!" "Um, ok!" Jyp said, trying to shake Brunk's arm off and leave. "If you insist." "Not you!" Brunk growled, twisting the cat-sprite's arm behind his back. "OW!! Leggo or I'll bite your 'and off!" Jyp yelped.

Continuing to listen to the conversation, the creature licked her fur from uncleanness. She was surprised by the show of the dog-like creature's weapons or least she hadn't seen them for centuries. Just by glancing at him she knew that he came from somewhere else, a foreigner of another world, perhaps. Yet they all were...
As soon as the human brute touched the cat-like being, the feminine leopard growled silently in absolute anger. Fury incased her as she cautiously made her way down the wall, graceful as a cat she easily went undetected. Even when landed upon the floor barely a sound was made though the rats in fear scattered around the alley.
A smile crossed her lips for they would know their fate. Quietly she hid in the corner near the arguing group while. That was when she had her chance. She unsheathed her dagger holding it close already calculating the movements. While the humans’ attention was on the cat she easily ran from the corner behind the man. Swiftly she stabbed the man knowing that it would be too late if they noticed her.
One down, and one to go...

"I will not leave, so release him or die. God-child or not, I cannot let you harm him." Ankh's voice was a low, feral growl. He crouched and prepared to strike, but sudden movement behind the men caught his eye. The Anubite started in surprise, but quickly recovered. Another? Who was this newcomer? He could scent that it was a felinoid, like the other, but the smell was slightly different.
