Derek observed the warehouse from a roof some distance away. He had been there for about fifteen minutes, pondering his next move. he sat cross-legged, his weapons spread out in front of him. About a dozen knives, the revolver he had picked up and two additional clips sat on the wet roof, and he picked each one up and inspected it carefully, before depositing it in the folds of his cloak. When he was finished he scratched his chin and ran over his plan once more. He didn't like it very much, but he figured the best way would be to charge in through one of the back doors, locate Harue as quickly as possible, and get out. Derek guessed that he didn't ave much time before they killed her. Derek didn't know why he was so bent on rescuing her, but something in the dark recesses of his mind told him he would need her for something important later. Derek sighed and threw himself over the ledge of the roof, landing behing a pile of crates. He worked his way steathily around the warehouse, and chose an entrance. A pair of guards stood watch, but they lounged idly against the arehouse walls, smoking and chatting. Derek ran towards them, knives appearing in each hand. The one who noticed him made a startled noise that was cut off as Derek launched himself into the guard, planting his feet on his chest and pushing him forcefully into the warehouse wall. He was still crumpling as Derek cracked the second one over the head with the handle of one of his knives. He dragged their limp bodies into the shadows and proceeded inside quietly.

Jokte had Harue sitting against a corner wall of the warehouse, he sitting beside her. Harue glared at him but he just watched forward, a red sandy colored male fox at his feet. Harue worked against the tight leather straps that were wrapped tightly around her wrists. "You won't get them off, Hakuje." Jokte muttered and the fox growled at Harue then let its head droop onto its paws. Harue lied her head on her knees her eyes closing halfway. She'd been up for a few days straight now. Suddenly the fox's ears perked up and it looked at the door. Other foxes got up, venturing to the door in caution. Harue smirked a little. THey didn't recognize his scent. "He's here..." She murmured, looking at the door. Call it a notion, she figured Derek would come get her. Jokte stood then glared down at her then pulled Harue to her feet. "Who? Is it your boyfriend, Hakuje." "No!" Harue said, blushing like a little school girl. "No, its just the guy I was with!" She looked to the door. "Derek!"

Derek heard someone shout his name, and recognized the voice. It sounded like it was coming from somewhere on the other side of the warehouse. He sighed with exhaustion and looked at the pile of incapacitated Fox members lying around him. There had to be almost a dozen of them. He knew there had to be at least fifty more lurking around the warehouse. Derek didn't like those odds at all. He groaned and put his head against the metal crate he sat against and closed his eyes. A moment later he felt something cold and definitely metallic pressed against his head. "Bang, you're dead," said a voice that tickled the back of Derek's mind. He opened his eyes and turned to observe his captor. It was a tall, shadowy figure, whose face was obscured by a cloak quite similar to Derek's. The weapon he toted was quite similar to the one Derek had picked up at the armoury, but Derek caught a glimpse of many other guns concealed beneath his cloak. Then something clicked into place, and Derek knew who it was. "Steven?" he asked, pushing the gun pointed at his head aside. "Is that really you?" The figure threw back the hood, revealing a grinning face, that had features so siilar to Derek's they could have passed off as brothers. The resemblance ended there, though. he had a great, shaggy mane of brown hair, and it was obvious that he not shaved in some time. There was a slightly curved scar under his left eye that caused his eye to twitch a bit now and then. "Someone had to save your sorry behind," he said, hugging Derek fiercely. "You've left a trail of bodies between here and the door about a mile wide," he said, his eye glinting. "It would seem you've taken it upon yourself to rid the city of the Fox gang single-handedly. What are you doing here anyway?" Derek explained hastily. "I see," he said gravely. He thought a moment. "As reckless as your strategy is, it might just work with two of us." He examined Derek. "Are you sure you're up to it?" Derek nodded. "It'll be just like old times." He thought about that for a moment. "On steroids." He concluded. Steven grinned again. "Shall we?" he asked, and they entered a wide hallway, with about a dozen Foxes at the other end, heading towards them. Derek drew a pair of knives, then another pair. Two vanished up his sleeve and two were held lightly in each hand. Steven thingyed a pair of revolvers and levelled them at the advancing Foxes. He nodded once, Derek returned the nod, and the fray began. The sound of the revolvers was deafening, and Derek was lightning quick. The Foxes were all down in less than a minute.

Harue could hear the gunshots. She shuddered. How many foxes were dead already? She looked to Jokte then brought her tied wrists up and hit him in the face. "Untie me now." Harue ordered. Jokte glared then pulled her arm so her back was up against him. He pulled out a blade from seemingly nowhere and within seconds all Harue realised that the side of her face was wet and tingly. The leader had quickly come over and he and Jokte whispered to each other while Jokte pushed Harue into the corner. She sat there, a little more than stunned as she watched Jokte and the Leader whisper to each other. The Leader glanced at Harue then gave a quick nod then walked off again. Many Fox members rose quickly, going to the door. Harue shut her eyes as Jokte pulled her to her feet again, pulling her towards the back of the warehouse. She felt like screaming but she couldn't get her mouth to work. Jokte brought her out of the warehouse, throwing her against the wall in an alley. "Derek!" Harue finally yelped as she hit the wall. If Derek was there, she'd have to look like a weakling at this point. Jokte probably thought the same. Harue could feel the blood rushing down her neck. "Derek!!" Jokte brought out another blade then a small revolver. Harue stood again staring into the gun. "Der-" She started again but Jokte put his hand over her mouth. "When and if he ever sees you again, he will find you in a ditch somewhere." He hissed. Harue felt a quick sharp pain in her arm as Jokte's blade sunk in. Something frighteningly cool fellt against her neck. It was the revolver.

Derek and Steven stood in the hall littered with bodies, admiring their work. Derek shook his head and drew the revolver he had taken from the armoury. Steven's eyes widened a bit at the sight of it, and grinned slyly. Derek offered him the weapon. "I see you paid a trip to my armoury," Steven said. He held up his hands. "You keep it." He looked the weapon over. "I remember that one. Have you discovered my little modification?" he asked, grinning. Derek shook his head. "Pull both triggers at the same time for a little suprise." Derek pointed it at a wall, but Steven batted it toward the floor. "One time only," he explained. Derek grinned and nodded, a grin which faded as he heard Harue shout his name. At the same time, a fresh group of Fox guards came at them. "You hold them off," Derek said, gesturing towards the advancing group. "I have something to take care of." Steven nodded, turned, pulled a fresh pair of handguns from his cloak and opened fire. Derek chased Harue and Jokte, and as he ran into the alley, Jokte pressed the revolver against Harue's neck. Derek levelled the handgun at his head. "Let her go, Jokte," he said in a tired voice. "Don't make me kill you." A plan began to form in his mind as he eyes the small revolver. He looked closely at the space between the hammer and waiting bullet. He carefully drew a short throwing knife, and began preparing for the throw. It was going to be an incredibly difficult throw. "Come on Jokte."

"This is none of your concern!" Jokte said, bringing Harue closer to him. She stared at Derek but her pupils were dialated and it was obvious she was out of it. Nothing to her seemed in right order. She'd never been this scared. She'd never been this close to dying before. Jokte smirked at Derek as his finger's tensed on the trigger then he finally squeezed it. Harue jolted back but it wasn't a bullet that went into her neck, but more of a needle. Her body dripped to the ground, her eyes still wide but she wasn't dead yet. The Fox's only used bullets to weaken their victims. It was much more fun to know that they went insane before they died. Jokte pointed the revolver at Derek. "I've got a few of those in here, and one is just a little less than a lethal dose, but Hakuje will die all the same." A grin played on Jokte's lips. "You can always die with her, Derek." Harue stared up at Derek still. "You're dying...he'll die...they'll all die." I didn't want this...

Derek's face stiffened. As Jokte pulled the trigger he dove out of the way and forward at the same time. He was no more than 20 feet away from Jokte as he squeezed both triggers, the barrel pointed at his central body mass. The effect was astounding. A pocket of explosives was set off towards the back of the gun, effectively obliterating the weapon just above the grip. The barrel, the empty cases, the drum, and the metal shards that were all that was left of the top of the weapon were propelled at an astounding speed towards Jokte. The Derek dropped the handle, waving his hand. It was smoking as it struck the ground, and steamed as it landed in a puddle. Jokte made a startled sound as metal tore through his vital organs with a wet, ripping sound. The alley behind him was splattered with blood as he collapsed, gurgling and twitching slightly. Derek looked away for a moment, fighting down his last meal. Then he rushed to Harue's side, the knife he still held clattering to the alley floor. "Harue, I need you to listen very carefully to me," he said slowly. "The poison that was on those darts, what is it called?"
(I made Jokte pull the trigger instead of waiting until next post. Speed things up. I hope you don't mind. And Raven gave me permission to kill Jokte. Yeah.)

Harue moved her neck slightly, looking straight at Derek. "...I..." She murmured then let her head fall back to the ground. Slowly she searched her shattering mind. She was finding things that were scrambled...Jokte dying and some school project when she was eight. "Max...Injmaxe...." She murmured. "...Injmaxe." (<.< Made up a word...) "Derek!" Harue screamed clenching her fists as it felt like something bluntly hit each side of her head. "Derek! Stop..." She closed her eyes tightly. There were pieces missing. Where was the spare key to the house? When was her brother's birthday? This...its just the start...

Steven arrived at the alley just then, pressing his back against the wall near the corner. The empty clips fell out of his handguns and he popped in two new ones. "There are about two dozen Foxes headed this way, and they don't look happy." He looked at the fallen Jokte and flashed a quick smile at Derek. "I see you tried out the little suprise ending," he said. "How did it work?" Derek looked up. "There's no time for that now," he said, gesturing at Harue. "Jokte poisoned her. She thinks the poison is 'Injmax,' but I don't know how straight she's thinking right now." Steven came over and handed Derek the two guns. "What did he use?" Derek handed him Jokte's revolver. Steven popped it open and carefully examined the needles. He shook his head gravely. "This doesn't look good. I nee to get her to one of my little stores. I have an antidote there. You hold the Foxes off." Derek nodded, clicked off the safeties and stepped out of the alley, guns ablaze. Steven picked up Harue and moved towards the other end of the alley.

"Are you willing to bind yourself to the Fox Gang for as long as you are physically able?" "Yes." "Harue Ikumura, you will now be known in this new world as Fox Hakuje..."
I thought I was ready for this. I wanted more than I could handle. Then I got sick of it. Why? Little girls don't get into these kinds of messes. I was too young...
I could feel the grins, just challenging me to run away. They knew I would. They knew I was weak all along. They knew I would die before they would. I just never knew.
I...have to stop all of them. Thats what I wanted to do but now...Derek. Somebody help me...
Harue breathed deep breaths as if she was struggling with the easy concept in this world. She opened her eyes again and all she saw were bright blurs as sunlight passed through corners of alleys. This night felt like it had taken forever. She thought it was Derek carrying her but it did not smell like he did. She remembered his smell. When she was pressed against him and his cloak was tight around their shoulders. Sure, the slight smell of blood and gunpowder was there like it was on Derek but Derek's smell was more distinct than this. Who was carrying her...? "Where...where's Derek?" Harue murmured. She was losing everything. What happened on her 16th birthday? It was significant...when did Grandpa die? What was that gross thing in the refridgerator? What's a refridgerator?...

Steven gave her a worried look, but said nothing. At last, he stopped in front of an unremarkable dumpster. The lids were chained down to keep garbage out of it. Steven felt along the inside of the upper lip, and pressed the button he found there. The dumpster slid back lazily on well hidden tracks, revealing a short staircase and a metal door. He carried Harue down it and pulled the door open. The room it led to was much different than the armoury. There were a few handguns on the wall, and one particularly nasty looking shotgun, but there was also a cot in one corner, as well as a sink with a counter. The room was quite a bit larger than the armoury. Steven set Harue down gently on the cot, and began rummaging through the cupboard under the counter, repeating the name of the poison to himself. Under the counter were bottles of poisons and antidotes, most of them stolen from the Fox gang. Steven selected a bottle containing a dark green liquid and brought it to Harue. There was only about a tablesthingy in the bottle. "This will taste awful," Steven warned, before pouring the green liquid down Harue's throat.

Harue didn't hold back. She drank the liquid and shut her eyes tightly.
"This will taste awful."
She was understanding things at a slower rate. It wasn't Derek's voice. How did this happen...?
(sorry for shortness <.< I must leave!)

(No problem.)
Derek hid around a corner, breathing heavily. The problem with Steven, he decided, was that he had an irritating tendency to understate things. Derek made a mental note to multiply any number Steven estimated by at least two. Derek had leapt around the corner, guns firing, expecting a couple dozen Fox members. Derek's initial impression was that a third of the Fox gang was heading towards him. Upon closer inspection, Derek refined this estimation to inclue another third of the Fox gang. He was out of bullets, but kept the handguns. Steven liked to get his guns back. So now he had his back pressed against the wall of a dark alley, quite far from the one where he had killed Jokte. Instead of demoralizing the Fox gang, the discovery of their dead leader had only seemed to encourage them, and infuriate them. Derek watched a metal canister land in the alley in front of him, and start spraying blue fumes. He covered his face, took a step forward and punted it back out of the alley, smiling as he heard the confused voices and coughing that told him his aim had been true. He quickly left through the other end of the alley and walked down the street. He had a pretty good idea of where Steven had taken Harue. He had had to make a stop there several years ago when he had been shot by a needle similar to the one Jokte had used on Harue. The only difference was that the needle had gone clean through his arm, so only a tiny bit of poison had been able to enter his system. The sky was gray as he trudged through puddle after puddle towards Steven and Harue.

Harue's mind struggled to keep up with things deteriorating and things being restored. She was luckier than most who were hit by this deadly potion of the Fox's creation. Her fingers finally stopped twitching soon after the restoration and deterioration met. Then her mind started to fix itself completely. Now she just had to wait it out. It hurt her head and made her dizzy but she just slept through it on the cot.

Steven was meticulously cleaning a handgun when Derek found the button on the dumpster. Steven tensed up, but relaxed as he heard Derek swear as he nearly fell down the stairs. Derek pushed through the door as the dumpster slid back into place, looking exhausted. His eyes were hopeful as he spotted the cot, but he sighed as he saw that it was already occupied. "How is she?" Derek asked, sprawling on the floor and covering his eyes with one arm. "I think she'll be just fine in a few hours," Steven replied, picking up a different gun. Derek fumbled inside his cloak with his free arm for a moment before pulling out the pair of handguns. He wordlessly held them towards Steven. "Ah," said Steven happily, taking them from me. "Thanks." Then he began to clean them. Derek drifted to sleep, and Steven kept working.
