Derek nodded slowly, understanding. "Our city had a brutish gang once," he laughed quietly. "Didn't last long, mind you." He was leaning against a brick wall, listening intently. "They just got more and more aggressive until the entire gang's hiearchy just, collapsed." He shook his head, smiling. "They got into an argument. Killed eachother off." He was still smiling, despite the grim tidings. "The handful that survived had no allies they could turn to, and were hunted down within a couple of days to eliminate the risk of the gang reforming." He sighed and pushed himself off the wall. He lookeda round and brushed his hands off, then his cloak. "I just got this thing cleaned," he grumbled as he brushed dust off the back.

Without a word, Harue had started walking back down the street. That guy is strange...or maybe its me who's strange. I didn't like it that he felt happy because others had died. It was cruel... SHe thought, shaking her head.

Derek shrugged and headed the other way. He paused for a moment under a flickering streetlight before quickly fading into the shadows.

Harue had climbed up one of the building ladders to the roof. She looked at the sky and sighed. "...am I supposed to jut sit back and let these things go on? I don't want to be in a gang but..." SHe had to admit, when she was in gang life, it was exciting but for all the wrong reasons...maybe some people just need a little adventrue in their livesbut does that mean killing people for it? (Heck yes!...I mean...no...heck no-HECK NO!)

Derek sighed miserably as he walked through the alleys of the city. "Smooth Derek, real smooth," he told himself sternly. "'Everyone died when the gang came down, but I thought it was funny'," he quoted himself theatrically. "That's a surefire way to meet new people." He climbed a rusty fire-escape ladder to the top of an apartment and sat on the edge, his feet dangling off the side. He loosened the straps on the sheaths on his arms and removed them, tossing them in a pile close to his side. He lay down and closed his eyes, the damp roof making his hair wet. Without opening his eyes he pointed to the shadows on the roof. "Leave," he said simply, and heard the swish of fabric as a figure darted away. A Crow? he thought to himself. Who knows? He lay there a little longer before sitting up and strapping his weapons back on slowly, deliberately. He stood, shook his head to dry his hair, and fastened his cloak shut with a small silver clasp. He put the hood up, slid down the ladder and blended into the few people walking along the dirty sidewalks.

Harue stood up and shook her head. "I wonder...what if I tried to...stop the gangs?" She murmured. By yourself? You're crazy! She thought. "Ugh...I hate it when I think..." She finally jumped down from the building, heading back towards the center of the city for her home...one last time. She'll have to gather supplies...she'll shut the gangs down once and for all. Even if its by herself.

Nathan stood there, glancing between Derek and Harue. He was attempting to decide which one to follow. Eventually, he ended up picking Harue. Following her, he walked up the building with her. 'Stop the gangs?' he thought to himself. "What exactly are you thinking?" he questioned her. If she WAS trying to shut down the gangs, he might be able to lend a helping hand.

Harue turned her head to look at him. Her eyes sort of flashed at the sight of herself being followed. "um...you...followed me..." She said and turned around all the way. "I'm just thinking...nothing inparticular..." She said, hoping he didn't hear what she said the minute earlier.

Derek saw the girl from the rooftop, followed by the other, untalkative one. He slid quietly into the shadow of a building, and followed. He heard the short exchange, and scratched his head. "Stop all the gangs?" he thought. It was absurd. He thought it over, and could see no possible way they could succeed. His analytical mind rolled it over and over as he followed. Unless... No, he thought. No intervention. Remember the last time you tried to help? He shuddered a bit, then straightened. But that was a long time ago, things had changed since then, he argued. Nonsense, he scolded himself. You haven't changed a bit. That's not true! he snapped. I've become wiser, stronger. It was a moment before he responded. Is that why you make arroant remarks like that? Derek shook his head, and followed a moment longer, before emerging from the shadow. "Excuse me," he said loudly. "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation." He stepped forward, away from the shadows. "And although my common sense is warning me against it," he sighed. "I offer my services."

Harue looked to Derek. "Oh...its you..." SHe said. She wasn't exactly warming up to him. She had already decided that he sounded like a jerk. "Look, I don't need either of your services." SHe said, standing back up.

Derek shrugged, and turned away. "If you say so," he said, and walked away, apparently unconcerned.

Harue looked at the ground. Maybe I shouldn't do this...She thought then looked towards Derek. Or at least had the courage to ask for help when you know you're going to need it...

Derek watched the girl in the reflection of a small knife he held near his waist. He watched her hesitate, a barely noticeable gesture. He didn't slow down as he walked around a corner, down a dark alley. So she's having second thoughts he thought. I suppose I should tag along, whether she agrees to it or not. He quickly mounted a fire escape ladder and observed from the rooftops.

Harue looked back at Nathan for a minute before going over to the side of the building, jumping the short distance down. Once she was on the ground she looked back up then ran down the road towards the city limits where a small house stood. In the darkness she made sure no one was following her yet and climbed into a low window silently. In the house that was her family's she crept along the hall and down to her room. I just need a few things and then I'm gone for good... SHe thought. Later she came out of the window again with a different wardrobe. She was wearing a black dress going to her knees and a blue jean vest that had the sleeves ripped off, showing the dress's black sleeves underneath. Harue also wore black boots going up to her knees. She had a black backpack full of various weapons she had collected from the fox gang. She was ready. Harue looked up at the starry sky and her lips moved silently. I don't mean to make everyone worry...I just feel like I'm the only one who can do this....except... She thougth and glanced back deeper into the city where she was minutes before. "How can I trust them?" She asked herself before walking onto the road back into the city.

Derek kept some distance away from the former fox as he followed. He kept an eye on her, but thought he'd lost her a couple of heart-stopping times. As she slipped into a building he sat on a high roof about half a block away and waited. When she came out again, redressed, he simply sat and watched her head back into the city. "Hm," he said to himself. He stood up once there was some distance between them, and followed once more, slowly and carefully hopping from roof to roof. At one point he landed on the ledge, and for one frightful instant teetered above the ground four stories below. Then he fell forward, and lay there, shaking. "wow," he muttered, before continuing.
