Climbing the tall building behind Owl HQ was easy, but as he peered over the edge to the roof of the Owl building a good thirty feet below, he gulped. As he suspected, sentry bots guarded the fire escape ladder, and chains of rounds accumulated in a box at the base of the supporting tripod. Also, two other sentries were located about 20 feet away from the rest of the sentries. He realized at once that this would be no easy task spotting a hatch that led into the building in the center of the triangle of sentries. He wiped a bead of sweat off his forehead and sat against a chimney. He tightened all the straps under his cloak and picked two knives: a short throwing knife and a longer, straight blade. He oulled them from their sheaths on his legs and fastened them to his arms: easily accessable yet secured to his body. A thought occured to him, and he drew a different throwing knife. He walked to the edge of the building on which he stood, stepped back and threw the blade with all his strength, stepping into it. Two of the sentries swivelled quickly, the other guarding the exit still. The muzzels flashed but no sound was produced. The knife stopped in mid air and went spinning off into the night, bullets pinging off it. The guns turned towards the source of the knife, and Derek ducked just in time as pieces of cement were sprayed up from the ledge in front of him. "Crap," Derek said mildly, turned and was soon on the street again, his mind racing.

Harue made it to the top of the second flight of stairs. There was a long hallway with many doors on each side, like a boarding house, and at the end of the hall was another flight of stairs that led to an escape hatch leading to the roof. "There are probably guards on the roof and I don't even want to know whats on the other side of thsoe doors." She murmured to herself. She finally decided to take the risk of going up the stairs to the escaped hatch to the roof. She climbed the stairs without much noise and put her hand on the hatch door. "Ok, Harue...just...look out quickly and if no one sees you then, get into the roof." She said, talking herself through her "Wing it" plan. "1...2...3..." She murmured and opened the escape hatch sligthly, looking out through the crack. The sentry bots heard even the smallest opening of the hatch hand came over to it. Harue ducked and hid in a small shadowy corner. 'Dammit...' SHe thought. 'These Owls are going to be a harder opponent than I thought...maybe I should have accepted that other boy's help...No! He threatened me and those others...I don't need him...'

(Um, they aren't human guards, Bots. I said sentry bots. Usually I'd say go with human guards but if they were human Derek would have attempted to take them on. Plus I don't think they'd have been able to shoot the knife.)

(It's no problem. Now I can reply.)
Derek paced restlessly, considering the building from across the street. He considered every possible way in, but arrived at no conclusions. He figured there were similar sentries throughout the building, but some might be isolated. An isolated sentry he could handle, but three at once? No. He figured the only way in would be the front door, and he crossed the street, let himself in, and set to work, heading left immediately. He was a bit taken aback by the lack of security on this floor, but he realized the logic behind it. The security couldn't be too agressive on this floor, as it was publicly accessable. As he reached the end of the hall he faced a decision: take the stairs, or risk taking the elevator. He knew that there would be surveillance in the elevator and the stairwell, but guessed that it would be easier to restrict access to certain floors in the elevator. On top of that, if they were to override the controls and go after him, he would have nowhere to go. He pulled the door to the stairwell open quickly, and stood to the side. Nothing. He entered quickly, letting the door shut behind him, and began systematically checking each floor.

(I liked this roleplay. Does anyone want to fire it up again?)

(Um....DUUUUUUHHHH....^-^ Raven liked this roleplay too...) Harue, still in the corner decided the Bots weren't going to come down so she might as well try another way to the Owls. She glanced around a little before hearing footsteps up the stairs to the next floor. She was on the last floor, no where to go except the rooms where there were bound to be a few sleeping Owls. She desperately stayed hidden in the corner, trying to keep in the shadows so no one would notice her.

(Okay, now I'll reply ;D) Derek hurried up the stairs, getting somewhat frustrated. He reached the top floor and shook his head. He knew she wasn't on the roof. He looked around, annoyed. Where was she? He pushed the only door elading off of the stairwell he could find open and peeked inside. It was dark.

Harue's heavy frightened breathing could be heard slightly in the silence. She was still scrunched into the corner. How she got herself wedged there, she had no idea either. She had her knees to her chest and glanced out the corner of her eye. She hoped it was all her imagination.

Derek paused, as the light sound of breathing tickled his ears. He looked around, startled, for a moment, before spotting Harue in the corner. "Well there you are!" he exclaimed. "I've been looking all over for you." He walked over and offered his hand. "Who did you think I was?"

Harue looked at his extended hand and hesitated in taking it just yet. She glanced up at him, keeping her eyes on his then took his hand and pulled herself up out of the corner. "I thought you were one of the Owls. I thought you had left." She said. She still looked a little frightened but held the look of pride in her eyes as she stared at Derek.

"Me leave? Nah. I just got a little, er, sidetracked." He stepped back and turned around. "So what do we do now?" He shut the door he had opened slightly with one hand, while the other picked it's nails with a short knife, seemingly of it's own accord.

OoC| This roleplay looks awesome, but I'm trying to figure out a way to join smoothly without just having Nathan walk in there for no reason... |
