(Okay, screw this. I'm posting now.) Derek was too preoccupied with staying alive to notice Harue, but found the warmth against his arm comforting. He tried to grasp something that flitted about on the edge of his memory, just out of reach. He passed it off as deja vu, a sensation that seemed to pester him more each day. As the door clanged shut behind the Owls, he waited. After a moment he stood up swiftly, pulling his cloak ack on. He turned and offered a hand to Harue. "We have to get going."

Harue stared up at him then nodded and took his hand, pulling herself up. "Thanks." She murmured, half upset to say it and half relieved she could say it to Derek at all.cShe glanced back at him. "But where are we going?" She asked. Harue also wondered how they were going to stop the gangs now. The Owls obviously weren't much of any help at all. She wondered if they should have started with the Fox gang, since they knew her. But she doubted they would be the first to listen.

(Aw man. This block has got to go. It's quite frustrating. Man, I have been making typos at a rate of approximately 6 per second. I type two letters, back one space, type another two letters, back another space. Gah!
I'm most creative when I go to bed, so I'll run off a copy of the last few posts and write a reply in bed. If that doesn't work, I'll get therapy ;D)

(hehe, don't get too far ahead of yourself, Brad. Soon we'll be able to ask "Brad, old bean, what is 2 times 2?" And you will answer "4 dearest" then we will know you are sane.

What if I answer, "Five, minus the one the rabid pumpkins had for dinner last night?"

(Dang it, i forget what my character was trying to do in the first place. I'll just sort of...go with it.)
"I think we need to get out of here as soon as possible," he said, heading toward the doors. He stopped suddenly, about twenty paces to the door. "Get against the wall!" he said urgently, and threw himself awkwardly forward and to the wall just as red bolts ripped through the metal doors, tearing one off it's hinges and pushing the other one open so hard it crashed against the wall.

Harue did as she was told, quickly, throwing herself against the wall as the red bolts tore off the hinges of the door. "What the hell was that?!" She said.

"I'm pretty sure those are Owls!" he shouted over the racket, gesturing towards the armor-clad figures who stood a good sitance away from the door. Derek judged that they would be relatively safe if they stayed down, at least until they started advancing. As if reading his mind, the three Owls began lumbering towards the now vacant doorframe. Derek guessed that they would only have a few seconds before the Owls could get a clean shot. Derek looked back to the doorway on the other end of the hall. It was too far. Even if they made it the passing Owls earlier had going through those doors. On top of that Derek was quite sure the doors would only lead them deeper into Owl territory. Derek thought a moment. "Are you armed?" he called back at Harue.

Harue had already been looking through her backpack as she stayed out of the line of fire. She looked to Derek as she brought out a hand gun. "Yeah." She looked to the Owls as they advanced then put the gun back and brought out a glass perfume bottle filled with an orange liquid. "It will be easier if we try to put them asleep." She said, hoping the Owls didn't hear. But they were shooting so much, that it wasn't likely. "Cover your face!" She yelled throwing the bottle against one of the Owl's armored chest.

Derek threw his arm in front of his face. "I doubt that will work!" He shouted. The Owls knew the other gangs too well. The Owls were a stubborn gang, and Derek guessed they had lost more than a few troops to the Fox poison before they had decided to defend against is in some way. With his free arm he drew a short, straight dagger. It vanished up his sleeve in that curious way and he drew a sharp dirk from yet another location. He backed away from the advancing orange cloud even as he peered through it, trying to catch a glimpse of a target. "At least they've stopped shooting at us," he called to Harue, although he couldn't see her.

Harue squinted through the mist as it tried to clear. She had her collar up over her nose and mouth and she held it there. Please let this work... she thought. If it didn't, oh well. They were as dead as door nails.
