The Utahraptor's golden eyes narrowed as Shadowclaw began ripping at a punching bag. Her scaly lips narrowed and hardened. He was having problems with his anger again. Among the experiments allowed to live, anger management was as important as learning to use their abilities. She growled slightly and stalked over to the dragon-like experiment. "Stop." she hissed, placing a three-clawed hand on his shoulder. He would be stupid to flinch away with her four to five inch-long razor sharp claws resting only a hair's breadth from his skin. "You can't do this. I don't want you to end up like Nychus." Nychus was her predecessor. Almost everyone knew about him, the great disappointment. He was also a Utahraptor, but had not been very successful. A great deal of his DNA was incomplete and had to be replaced with pieces from other Utahraptors and birds. It showed. His patterning was irregular and patchy. He had a row of metal spikes running down his spine and an ugly scar on his throat from a surgery to remove a gland that produced hydrochloric acid. Both were attempts by her creator to make something far more deadly than the original. His wings were smaller and mostly useless. He could barely speak and was far, far less intelligent. His mind was very close to that of a true Utahraptor, as distanced as his body was. He was overly aggressive and short tempered, completely unable to adapt to life in the government compound. He was removed from this one after he fatally mauled three workers and permanentely scarred five others. Auryon begged for his life, but now she wasn't sure if that was the right choice; Nychus was now imprisoned for the rest of his life in another building, one with far higher security, in a location unknown to her. She had been crushed with his removal; he was the closest thing she had to her own kind. Nychus had been a reminder that her waking dreams were of her own other life, when she was a normal dinosaur, and not just her imagination. Every time a mutate lost it and had to be isolated or destroyed, it hurt her because she couldn't help them.

Loki's eyes snapped to Auryon as she placed a claw on Shadowclaw's shoulder. "Oh, shoot." he muttered to himself, knowing full well the dangers of being close to Shadowclaw. The dragon-human was uncontrollable sometimes, escpecially when angry.
Shadowclaw's head snapped around, and he jerked away from Auryon, ignoring the claws if they had afflicted harm upon him. His eyes were blazing, and he snarled, showing long sharp fangs. Loki darted between the two, shoving his the dragon-like humanoid away from Auryon, then he slapped Shadowclaw's face. "Stoppit!" he yelled, tring to disguise the fear in his voice.

Auryon flinched away from Shadowclaw, caught off-guard by his sudden attack. With a mighty sweep of her massive wings, she propelled herself backwards and away from the mutate. Hissing like a twelve-foot cobra, she assumed a defensive posture, crouching slightly with all six forclaws held at the ready. "This is not a wise thing to do around so many humans!" she spat. Indeed, several of the sparring people had halted and were now watching them. "If you want to be placed in isolation for a good long while, keep it up!" She hated being surprised like that; her panic swiftly turning to rage. Luckily, it had been a long, long time since she had been angry enough to lash out at someone. Coming a few steps closer, she growled, "My opinion is very important among the humans! If I say an experiment is too dangerous, they will beleive me! You do not want that to happen!" She turned abruptly, her lips curling over her teeth in a snarl and stalked away. "Keep your friend in check!" Auryon barked over her shoulder. She paced back and forth, her stiff tail whipping from side to side. She concentrated on her breathing, slowing it, reigning her temper in like a run-away horse.

Shadowclaw snarled at Loki, then glared at Auryon. Loki snarled at his older friend. "Shadowclaw, you don't stop it and I swear I'll do more than hit you!" But the bigger mutant shoved Loki aside and launched himself at Auryon, raging anger burning in his eyes.

Somehow Abby got caught up in watching the sudden brawl between the more experienced mutants. She watched as a bigger one ran at another more experienced female then she felt strange instincts take over. She snarled and growled then stomped over as the older mutant launched himself at the other, her black tail swishing behind her. Another lion-like growl came from the back of her throat, coming through her sharp teeth. This is completely stupid...I'll kick his butt! She thought.

Auryon let out a high pitched screech, swiping with her deadliest claw, carving huge arcs in the air. She was in full threat-display mode, her wings tucked tightly in to protect them from injury. The humans scattered, knowing from experiance that when the experiments fought, innocent bystanders could get hurt. She backed off, keeping distance between them. She didn't know everything that Shadowclaw could do yet. Casual fighting was one thing, but all out battle was another. Auryon had to drop him quickly. Her gaze darted about, searching for her staff. damn. She had left it lying on the floor several dozen feet away. There was no way she could reach it without exposing herself to attack. Her breath came in little raspy, growling pants, ominous sounding, the sort of noise that would send you running for dear life at night in the wilderness.

Loki looked at Shadowclaw and Auryon, alarmed. "Dadgummit..." he muttered. Shadowclaw had haulted as Auryon's claw had almost clawed him. He flared his huge wings, hissing and circling her slowly. Loki glanced around, spotting Abby. His taillashed, and he growled. "Very nice. Two, no, three people bound to get hurt, four if we all get into a fight..." he snarled and sprinted over to Shadowclaw, then jumped onto the dragon-like creature's back. Shadowclaw snarled, and, distracted from his previous target, threw Loki off and advanced upon him. loki jumped up swiftly, trying to calm himself down.

Auryon hissed, crouching, holding her hands out before her to protect her belly and chest from attack. "How... How dare you!" she growled. "I was doing nothing to you! I'm surprised the humans even let you live!" She backed off slowly, against her will. She would much rather launch into an attack. Then her foot brushed against something smooth and round. Her staff. The Utahraptor took one more step back and reached down with her long arm, her eyes never leaving Shadowclaw. She felt far better with it in her taloned hands. Let him come after her now. She was ready.

Loki snarled and picked himself up, watching Shadowclaw."Dadgummit, don't go through this again, Shadowclaw." Loki snarled, watching the dragon-human. "Don't make me." Shadowclaw snarled, forgetting the fact that Loki was a friend in his blind rage. But the panther-boy was ready for him. Loki kicked Shadowclaw hard in the gut, then swept his feet out from under him.

Abby stalked up silently behind Loki and when the time was right, soon after Loki finished teaching Shadowclaw a tough lesson, she grabbed Loki's arms. "I need to borrow you a moment. Brace yourself." She whispered, a lioness's growl rising in her throat. Her usually gold eyes were growing dark but then she closed them and time seemed to slow. I don't know what's happening...It seems like the right thing...it tickles the back of my head... She saw things...strange memories she did not know... Some of these memories are happy...this mutant...he's adjusted to this life...with his friends. But this is not what I wish to do... She silently and slowly took her hand and grasped Loki's hand and raised it towards Shadowclaw. "Think your happy thoughts...it's nice to see and hear your thoughts..." Abby murmured. An ugly looking purple ooz seemed to come from Loki's fingertips. Abby put her thin fingers over his eyes. "Keep thinking your happy thoughts...then you won't hurt Shadowclaw, only subdue him..." Ribbons of the black ooz started to turn into ribbons of it, going towards Loki. "It won't hurt him...I promise." She jerked forward a bit, her chin on Loki's shoulder. "Don't move, panther-boy! Keep thinking your happy thoughts!"

Loki snarled slightly as Abby did this, then he jerked away. "Stoppit!" he snapped, then turned back to Shadowclaw, who was sitting down and holding his head. The panther-boy strode over to his friend. "You all right?" he asked quietly. Shadowclaw looked at him, calmer than he had been. "It's getting worse." The dragon-yet-human said.

Abby let go of him then sighed, her eyes turning gold again. I was only trying to help... She shook her head turning away. "I'm sorry, that was...unecessary...foolish." She whispered. "I butted into things that were none of my concern." At least things have calmed down...why can't I seem to relax here? The furry black tail swished about, as if Abby was thinking. She glanced backwards then quickly headed for the doors but met the woman there she had spoken to before. "Heading back so quickly?" She asked, keep in her blue oeyes on Abby's gold one's. Abby nodded. "Yes, ma'am. I've...done enough here." The woman grimaced as she held out the rag doll that was in Abby's room. "We moved you to the regular dormatories. I supposed you'd be needing this...unless you want to be a big girl and throw this old thing away..." Abby snatched it away from the woman, cradling it in her arms and shook her head. "No, never. Matilda...she's the only part of my old life I have left, ma'am."

Loki glanced over his shoulder at Abby. "Sorry," he mumbled umcomfortably. Shadowclaw sighed and stood up. "That was a good one, kiddo." He said, holding his stomach. Loki shrugged. "Whatever," the panther replied.

Auryon stared in shock, her aggression forgotten. Why had she not been informed that this newcomer had such powers? Why would they not tell her? She was important here! That cursed new woman! Auryon was tired of her going over her head and making decisions without her consent! Shooting a glare of warning at Loki and Shadowclaw, she immediately turned and trotted out of the room, straight to her office. She could smell her in the halls, showing she had just been by. "Jenna!" she barked, storming into the room and surprising her. The woman had just gotten there. "I'm tired of you treating me like I'm nothing but a mindless beast, dammit! Just because I'm not humanoid doesn't mean I don't have feelings! I care about these new arrivals and if you don't tell me about them, then I cannot help them!"
