It was a warm, breezy morning. Beneith a tree, a young girl lay curled up, dappled sunlight illuminating her features. Her chest rose and fell gently with each breath, raven hair partially covering part of her face. Indeed, this was the infamous reincarnated miko, Kagome.
Rays of light prodded at her closed eyes, beconing her to awake. A nearby stream babbled happily in the fresh day, calling her. The girl begrudingly opened one warm brown eye, the other slowly following suit. Staring at her surroundings for a moment, she brushed bits of stray bark from her hair with delicate fingers, stretching and yawning. One of the bad things about living in the feudal era a good deal of the time? You went to sleep at sunset and awoke at dawn. Kagome much prefered her home, not-in-school schedule: Stay up until two in the morning watching pointless old movies on television before sleeping in until noon the next day. She was a teenage girl, and falling asleep and waking up this early just couldn't be healthy! Or natural, for that matter!
Shoving a few stray locks from her face, the girl stood up and stretched her legs out, looking at her surroundings once more. Frowning, it occured to her that, despite the early hour, she was still the last to wake up. Peachy. She could expect to be called lazy by Inuyasha, as well as any word synonimous with such for the remainder of the morning.
Retreiving a small bag of dried apples and a bottle of water from her backpack, the girl sat back down and began to eat her excuse for breakfast. Healthy? Sort of. Tasty? Not really. But she knew if she came home with any spares, her mother would be convinced her child wasn't getting the proper nutrition and would scold her. Leaning against the trunk of the tree, she allowed herself a small, reassuring smile. They can both just bite me. she thought to herself, shifting into a more comfortable position and interesting herself with a small bird's nest in a nearby tree.
