Well we've all heard complaining from people who say "Stop stereotyping us! Goths aren't like that!" They're probably talking about these rumors, Goths wear all black Goths wear black makeup all the time Goths make depressing poetry Some goths worship the devil Goths are always sad. And so on. If people keep saying that these aren't true, then what IS goth?

...its a period of time. A Gothic Window might ring a bell. You know with the old farmer and his wife standing in front of a house and there is Gothic window in the back. yeah. Gothic time was a sad time in the world I think so I think thats why they stereotype goths. I know plenty of people who say they are goth who; Don't worship Satan (X3 I almost put Santa) Are actually devout Christians DOn't wear black make up all the time but plenty of times, mind you Don't write any poetry because they can't write for crap Wear a lot of pink sometimes Are pretty hyper sometimes So I think its more of a way of life than a stereotype really...

That is sooo true.... There are different kinds of Goth too. There are ones who are always perfectly dressed and neat, always have their make-up done, but it isn't really wild. Then there are those who are the spiky-hair, black studded collar, safety pin types. Then there are those who fall in between. But personality doesn't have a great deal to do with the whole Gothy thing. Except all the Goths I know(me included) are a bit weird. And we tend to hang onto bad inside jokes like a rottweiler on a steak.

There really isn't much seperating them... A lot of different groups are merging because of current fashions.

Goth? Hmm...When I think of Goth, I see a girl dressed in black with black hair in ponytails, a miniskirt, fishnets, and huge shoes...But that's just me, and I don't mean to offend.

... *runs and gets kevlar vest* It really depends if you are a poser and are just dressing that way and saying you are that just to shock people or to impress potential friends. Those should be shot. Not me. EEK!

Umm... Are you thinking about Kelvin? Kevlar is the bulletproof vest stuff. Kevlar is a funny word. Like, well the site probably won't allow it, so I won't put it. But it is funny. Off-topic, no?

X3 yes, very. Me and my best friend almost went "gothic" the last day of school last year. But we didn't...because we forgot X3.

I've never been a stereotype, I don't think. I'm like, a stereotypical non-stereotype. I got called emo the other day and was deeply offended. I think they mistook the bags under my eyes for eyeshadow or something XD And I usually wear a dark hoodie, because a.) it's really comfy and b.) I get cold really, really easily. I mean, I have like, a three foot pile of blankets over me when I sleep in the summer.

For the most part of school, I wasn't a stereotype either. I was just that quiet, strange kid that many people picked on. That changed in near the end of grade 11 though, cuz I met all the goths and hippies and artistic wierdos and they were MUCH nicer than everyone else. I became much less shy because of them and I wasn't so concerned about what I wore, so I just wore what I liked and I like gothy stuff. It's very nice not being judged by just your clothes like most other people I knew in school. Although, most of the time in school I was too lazy to do anything fancy. I mean, who wants to do make-up and not wear warm sweatshirts in the morning? I am not a morning person and I hate the cold. By the way, what's emo? Never heard about that before.
