I'm not totally sure myself, but it seems to be all the creepy guys who wear tight pants and like Simple Plan and Hedley and wear eyeshadow, and they're all like, "Pshaw, conformist." Hold on... Here's some noob who thinks emo is a good thing. www.fourfa.com/From the Urban Dictionary: Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar riffs with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 of the face at an angle. ::sniff sniff:: "The Demise of the Siberian Traintracks of Our Rusty Forgotten Unblemished Love" sounds like it would make a great emo band name. ::cry:: Heh heh. Um, yeah. I think you sort of have to fill in the gaps yourself, you know?

My friend and I do a role play and its gotten to the point where our two characters have grown up and have two kids but the eldest one, a boy named Colton has issues because he has this sort of silent attatchment to his mother and she's always in trouble with a lot of people. So me and my friend were talking in OCC and we play with our characters in OCC and she said "Yes, but one of your kids is EMO" Me: What? Her: ...Emotional Me: Ahh...razzberry.
....yeah anyway, thats what I thought emo meant...emotional...emotion...EMO!...ELMO! Elm street. Elmer fudd!

I think the whole "Emo" Title is retarded. Emotional? How can music not have emotion? You have to feel some kind of emotion when playing/listening to music.

No kidding! What would music be without emotion? Silly people who invented Emo. I don't think we had any people like that in my school. At least, I never saw them around Skid Row(that's where all the goths and whatnot hung out. Skid Row is the art room hallway. All the best people hung out there) or in any of my classes. Maybe it hasn't gotten ahold in my school.

[/glow] Amen. XD Late post, yeah. Mrmphf. And I could have sworn that Goth was a genre of music, something that branched off of rock and heavy metal and whatnot. I remember hearing that somehwere. ._. Goth is...eccentric. That goes for emo and those other things, too. To be honest, people who claim to be one of those stereotypes tick me off. I could just as easily go around with my hair grown wild, with an underdosage of sleep and an overdosage of makeup smeared on my face. =.= Honestly, I think goth is more of a fashion statement that goes something like: Whoohoo, black is cool...(!) Several of my friends are/claim to be "punk." I bobble my head, agree, and we all get along just fine. The only real difference I can see between them and everyone else is their appearance.

You are all sad. I'm as goth as you get and it isn't the fashion statement that makes a goth. That's what none goths think. And if you can't figure it out, I feel very bad for you. But then again everyone says I'm insane. And I'm not going to go against it, I like it. Really, learn what goth means before you start making accusations or anything cause this is just so sad to me -_-

All I can think that is goth is A) a time period B) people who worship *ahem* Satan C) People who are all depressed all the time and wear black all the time D) B & C, just a stereotypical fashion statement.
Don't feel sorry for us. I live in a small area and I'm not exposed to much goth stuff... I actually went "Gothic" today at school but I don't fit the attitude description. Oh wise Eclipse, tell us what the true goth is instead of holding it against me, DANGIT! *shakes Eclipse* TELL ME!!!!!!
Ps. We weren't making accusations, you crazy. We were trying to figure it out. Like when I followed a bunch of highschoolers to see what made them tick. I actually went to....*looks around with a file clutched under one arm* THE OLD GYM! Thats where the cool highschoolers who are too cool to eat in the cafeteria eat. Or are just too cool to eat.

I'm pretty Goth, as are many of my friends. The term 'Goth' cannot really be one simple, straight forward description as there are many types of Goth. It isn't a fashion statement... It can't really be defined that easily; you just know if you or someone is Goth. All of the Goths I know aren't depressed cutters or anything like that; we are actually often very hyper. Sure, a couple of my friends can be prone to small fits of depression, but none of us cut. It's very hard to explain.

Ahh, I knew it was music! ^_^ And no, I don't think I'm really very sad. Happy, more like. I did a mini-research thing, and guess what popped up? Hear that? UNDEFINABLE. Here's more from the site, if anyone's interested. www.religioustolerance.org/goth.htmYeah, it IS a religious tolerance site. God Bless Yahoo.com.

That's gay. If you want to be left alone, you don't want to be seen, and why would you look at other peoples faces then. Bullcrap. XD
But it did get one thing right. A goth can't really be described since it means different things to different people.
1) Some goths are simply there for the clothes/music 2) Some are by their attitudes 3)Some are because of 1 and 2 4) They have gone through something/s that hadthem see all the dark sides of the world. The true dark sides that few people notice. 5) Or a combination of 2 or more of these. Yet liking the music alone won't make you a goth.
The true goth to me is all of these combined though I'm telling you right now, I don't have a lot of dark clothes. x.x So yeah like me, you'd have to have all those factors.

I think saying "That's gay" is stupid. Curses. My FHAO (Facing History and Ourselves) teacher, who I don't like, told the class this one quote. "Perception is reality." From who knows who. I always think of it when I think of stuff like this. PLus, I'm not sad. I'm happy. And I didn't make accusastions, like RAven said. I'm pretty sure this topic was pretty innocent, I just wanted to know what people thought goth was and you told me I was sad. And yet I remain happy =D.
