Hidden between to sanctuaries of ancient forests, a lone creature stood in the vast, little known meadow. Even the foot high grasses of the field meerly brushed against this creature's curved, black talons on his eagle-like forefeet. This creature was a griffen, a beast forged from two others, the majestic eagle, and the mighty lion. The first half of his body was of a black eagle's; a pair of glossy black-feathered wings potruded from either side of his back, just behind his powerfull forelegs. His regal mane of dark feathers ran down from the back of his head and down his muscular neck. A deadly beak, the color of it as if made from a black crystal, clicked irritatiblely as the griffen waited for his opponent to come. He pawed the soft ground with his long talons; each of his claws were covered with protective black scales. His eyes were a blood red. The back half of his body was covered with shiny black fur. His hindlegs were of a feline's, flexable and well muscled at the same time. An elegantly curved tail of a lion swished slowly back and forth behind the griffen. He tossed his head restlessly, as a beast of such power and beauty, he was a fiercely respected creature of this realm.
(OOC: You can practice your skills with this Griffen NPC whenever you like)
OOC: -his leg kicks as he pants...then he eats a muffin, cause muffins are cool.
A Young man wandered through the trees, seeking the fabled creature that his town had spoken about. He wanted to fight the creature, to prove that he was worthy to the elder. White hair clung to his shoulders as he manuvered his way through the trees.
Finding his path out of the forest, he stepped onto the clearing. Gazing at the monster, he readied for battle. He wore a cotton shirt, and over that an armor plate. On his legs were brown pants, with daggers on the side. On his back was a Bo Staff, his weapon of choice.
"Hello Beast!" he shouted to the animal. "I hear you fight others, may I partake in one of these fights?" he asked the animal.

The griffen turned his massive head in the direction that the young man's voice had come from. Hmph. . .he called him a beast. He tossed his head in reply and snorted before crunching back his hindlegs and leaping into the air. Opening his large wings, he soared in the air, circling high above this unfortunate young man. He let out a hellish screech before edging his left wing to the side and making a low spiral downward ; his talons were spread and taught.
He gasped suddenly and took a step back. He saw it spiraling down with increasing speed and rolled to the left. Grabbing the Bo Staff from his back, he readied to attack the animal. Spinning it to gain momentum first, he then turned around and swung the staff at the animal's side.
OOC: This is assuming that the animal landed on the ground after the attack. If it didn't i'll just make another post.

Surprisingly for an animal his size, the griffen reared upward suddenly to dodge the blow from the Bo staff. But even with his speed, the staff still grazed some of his feathers. Skipping off to the side, he went over to the man's other side, away from his staff. Then, flexing his powerful hindlegs, he lept at him again, flaring out his black talons for his exposed shoulder.
The young man, dubbed Linith, turned his head around just to see the animal strike. Moving to the left, he attempted to dodge, but failed. Not completely though, for the animal had slashed his shoulder, a gash appearing. His open hand moving to his new wound, he smiled. He would enjoy fighting this one. As the Griffin was now in front of him, Linith raised the Bo staff high into the air and struck down upon the animal.

The griffen storted irritatibly as he felt the silly stick that the human called a Bo staff, strike his side. He would get rid of this stick soon enough he thought. Again, he snorted and shook his regal mane, before making a wild dash towards the man again, this time, his beak was agape and was trying to clamp onto the staff. Enough with this silly stick !
OoC: Not silly stick Im not mad or anything. Silly stick
Linith took a step back as the Griffen made a dash for the stick. He smirked, and tossed the stick up lightly in the air, using it as bait. Jumping to the left, he unsheathed his sword and slashed at the animal's front legs.
