((I dunno. I just wanted to post this. I got a weird idea and I have to put it down...))
Echo sat silently atop the roof of a multi-story building. A cool wind swirled around her, tickling her ears and catching her wings, tugging them, seeming to beg her to fly with them. The wind also brought the sounds of the city to her; sirens, cars, voices, music and more. She carefully sorted each sound out, deciding if it warrented investigation, though nothing yet needed to be fixed.
"Hello, my sister!" someone called, in a low, sultry voice. Echo yowled in shock, leaping up and nearly falling off the building, her long tail fluffing up like a gold and black bottle brush.
"Where the hell did you come from?!?" Echo demanded, angry and frightened. Frightened because no one had ever snuck up on her before since she had been changed into her present form. The person who had intruded was a rather disturbingly tall woman. She had a golden winged, Viking-style helmet on. Waves of gold hair tumbled out from beneath it to her waist. The woman's eyes were bright blue, her lips pouty and scarlet. She wore only what looked like two golden teacup saucers tied on with gold cord and a very small, gold, chainmail loincloth. Her wrists had golden arm guards and she wore gold leather sandals that laced up to her knees. Dangling from her belt was a coiled gold whip and a weird gold bladed hoop. Behind her was a huge man. He bulged with muscles like sacks of footballs and wore only a pair of tight leather pants, fur topped boots and a gold, winged Viking style helmet. He himself also looked rather Viking like. A huge blond beard bristled off his chin and waves of blond hair tumbled over his shoulders, some twisted into bunches. Beneath his heavy brows were a pair of blue eyes, glaring out. There were other people behind them, but Echo's view was blocked. "We?" the woman said. "We saw you up here and have come to invite you to join us, sister." Echo's gold eyes narrowed and she looked suspiciously at them.
"Who's 'us'?"
"We are a group of superheroes. We are searching for those like us, to join us in our campaign against evil. I am Valkyrie, and this is Odin."
"Riiiight... What makes you think I want to join you?" The huge man scowled.
The Valkyrie or whatever continued babbling on. "Because... Just look at you! You would be perfect! Why, look at the way your dressing; it is like you are trying to join us!"
Echo's eyes flashed angrily. "What's wrong the way I'm dressed?!?" she growled. "What about you guys?!? Usually you don't see that much bare flesh outside of a skin magazine!"
The intruders glanced over themselves, looking confused. A vein throbbed in the big man's neck as he struggled to form a sentance. "Uh... Uh... What's wrong with the way we dress?" he rumbled. Behind him the other three people... People? came closer. One was another huge man, looking like a clone of the Odin dude, but with close-cropped black hair and army gear. His weapon was a huge gun, while the first man's was an equally huge axe. The other two were women, one dressed in a tiny white tank top and a pair of army pants. The last one wore a blue harem girl's outfit and had violet skin and eyes. Both looked like an adolescent boy's fantasy.
Echo started pacing back and forth, he large cat's paws making no sound on the concrete. "Number one," she said, ticking it off on one finger, since these 'superheroes' seemed a bit on the thick side, "everything you are wearing would be useless in a fight. Most of you are wearing no armor, and what little you are wearing wouldn't protect you!"
"But... but you are wearing not much either." Valkyrie said. She must be co-leader with Odin.
"What I am wearing is sensible for me." She gestured at herself. Echo was wearing a black tank top and a black loincloth attached to a pair of black shorts. "I can't wear armor and still fly. Besides, most armor isn't very aerodynamic. This is light and comfortable and lets me move easily. That is good for my style of fighting. Look at you! Everything hangs out! You probably can't even jump up and down safely, let alone run! Now, number two, your weapons are stupid! Look at the size of those guns! Very poorly designed if you are fighting in close spaces or against someone who can move faster than a snail. Look at that axe! Same problem. The whip and the shiny frisbee has too go too. That won't stop a determined criminal. Look at my weapons. My sword is good for open spaces and I have my dagger when things are close. I'm never really unarmed because of my teeth and claws and my voice. I can strike a man unconscious with it or even kill him. And why do you not have a weapon?" she asked the harem girl.
"I have magic powers. I am the Genie."
"Yeah, right. Magic won't save you." she scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Number three. You costumes are much too bright. You can't blend in anywhere! That's stupid! And how is anyone going to take you seriously when you're hardly wearing anything?"
"How will they not?" asked the Valkyrie. Echo groaned and was about to go on, but a siren caught her ears.
"I gotta go. Duty calls. Get yourself some clothes!" she called, placing her foot on the edge of the building and preparing to leap, when a selder hand darted out and fastened itself around her wrist. "What do want?"
"Let us come with you! We will help! And afterwards, we will get you some better clothes. You obviously tried to make them like ours, but you failed. A worthy attempt."
The jaguar/bat mutate saw red."WHY WILL YOU NOT TAKE THE HINT!?!" she screamed, impossibly loud. They winced and covered their ears, except for the Valkyrie, who grimaced, but didn't relinquish her hold. "I DO NOT WANT TO JOIN YOUR STUPID LITTLE GROUP! I do not make a fool of myself in front of cameras! I hate people! I do this because I want to make the world better, I want to be accepted for who I am! Not to be an exhibitionist! LET GO!" Echo's tail lashed in rage.
"It is our duty to help as well! Who is it? A new super villain?"
"NO! Just a common thief or carjacker!"
"The common scum are for the police to take care of. They are not important enough for us."
She groaned angrily and hurled herself off the building. The Valkyrie, caught off guard, plummeted several stories to the stinking alley floor. Echo soared off into the night, vowing to hunt them down later and give them a piece of her mind, preferably with the rest of the mutates and maybe at least some of the gargoyles.
((This isn't my best writing, but it amused me greatly. I might fix it later when I have more time. Enjoy!))
