(I wrote this at the end of January for my shop on neopets. It shows my soft, more Asian and less crazy side. Weird...)
And yet, as the river flows and my feet are getting pierced bye the stones at the bottom, I feel a certain peace, as if I know that angels will heal my bruised toes and that in knowing this I feel as if I am not walking on the stones but gliding over them, tipping each one over with my toes. It means a new year, as I walk on these rocks in the river, this New Year's morning. My puppy comes to play and splash me in the river, tugging on my kimono sash so I might play with him. I laugh. It is his year. This year of the dog. It is my year as well. A new year. Every year is mine. Mine to treasure, mine to hold, mine to think of whenever I like. Let me pray on this New Years day that I will never lose the memories I have of my new years. They always mean so much to me, even when I hit a harder stone, tripping and stubbing my toe, I know that everything will be all right, and I can go on living these wonderful new years that I love so much. The New Moon comes out tonight. That has to be the best part of the New Year. The first New Moon of the year. I love it so much. You can't see it, but you know its there. It's not saying it hates you, it's just saying that it is time for new things, growth, nuturing. And my father and mother say "Be gentle with the things you have, for like grandmother's favorite tea set, your years may shatter and break, yet. And no matter how hard you will try, no matter how happy you might stay, you will never pick up all the shards of your year, or the tea set..."
But I don't dwell on this. For this new year will not shatter. I will make sure it does not shatter into a million pieces. This is my year. My year. I love every year. New things happen. My year. My year of the dog. My year.
