"...what in the world did you do?" Karma asked, looking at the paper. "Did they bill you or something?"

Roth shook his head. "This," he said, waving the parchment, "Is the perfect plan." He looked furtively about. "But I'd rather not discuss it here. Let's head to the tavern. Everyone there is too drunk to be much of a threat."

Karma stared at him a moment then nodded and looked to Linith. "Don't get beat up by anyone while we're there, ok?" She said, smirking. It was obvious she loved to pick on him, even though she was teasing him for things that never happened before.

(I'm just going to skip the trip over, okay?)
Roth stepped into the tavern. It was an old, musty building that wreaked of ale and sweat. He walked over to a table in the corner, away from the window. He sat down, pulled out the parchment and spread it flat on the table. "That man in the tent back there is a merchant. He has some wagons of produce he needs delivered, but he hasn't been able to find anyone willing to make the trip. Fortunately for us, they need to be delivered to a city that lies a couple hundred leagues south of our destination. He's also agreed to let us keep the horses, as means of pay. We'll trade them in for faster horses and head north." He folded the parchment carefully. "Not only does it provide a means of travel, it doubles as a perfect disguise. No one is going to question a few honest merchants, are they?" Roth ordered a tankard of ale from the servingman, then turned back to Linith and Karma. "Any questions or conerns?" he asked diplomatically.
(Time to get out of this damned city!)

At the mention of horses Karma's eyes had grown very dark and it looked as if someone was purposefully puting gray clouds in her mind. "I told you I wasn't going to ride one of those damn animals." She muttered.

"Oh shut up." Linith told her jokingly. He was behind the group, and when he stepped into the tavern he was immeditely approached by a drunk. "Wha did you say about mah mum?" he yelled at him grabbing him by the collar of his shirt. "Uhh...look, that guy is stealing your drink!" Linith quickly shouted, pointing to another equally drunk man at a different table. He stumbled off and began an arguement with the man as Linith snuck away towards Roth. He was able to catch the vital parts, and was about to voice his opinon when Karma spoke up. "Augh, this again? You're not making any sense!" He told her, taking a seat.

"Animals shouldn't be ridden. For one its not freedom for animals and for two they're stupid. Animals should be either free or eaten." Karma said, looking to Linith, her eyes daring him to make another comment.

"Karma, I think it's about time you got over it. Between saving the world and saving you a bit of discomfort, I think we all choose saving the world. Besides, you can ride in the wagons until we make the delivery," Roth said in a tone that prevented further discussion. "We'll leave once we finish our drinks. The wagons are on the west end of town."

Karma sighed and nodded. "But I'm not riding in the wagons." She said. He was right! That horse practically mauled her when she was still a small child. "I'll ride a stupid horse." Again she glanced at Linith, waiting for him to make fun of her.

The mockery came from Roth instead. "Actually you don't really have a choice," Roth said, smiling a little. "You tend not to ride on a horse while they're hauling a wagon. They get irritable when they're forced to pull wagons and plopping you on one of their backs would doubtlessly result in a repeat of whatever incident caused you irrational fear of horses in the first place." He thanked the waiter as he set down three mugs of a clear, bitter liquid, and dropped a pair of coins in his hand. The waiter nodded his head politely and left.

Karma let out a sigh then folded her arms in front of her chest. "Fine, you old fart." She muttered. She sat in a chair at the table, folding her legs under her comfortably.

Roth looked a little injured. "Old fart?" He chuckled and tossed back the rest of his drink. "I suppose the day isn't growing any younger." He pushed back his chair and threw his hood over his head again. "Shall we?"

"We might." Karma muttered but stood up anyway. "I have better things to do than look at horse tail." She was sure she didn't want to go defeat this guy and "save the world". It sounded childish. Like a four leaf clover you'll never find in a million years. But she went along with them anyway. She was raised to do this apparentally. The priests didn't do a very good job, she thought.

And it was right then that Lin bounced into the tavern holding- not one, but five- four leaf clovers. To top it off, she was singing an old drinking song at the top of her lungs and with more gusto than anyone in the bar could have handled in a century if they'd had that long to practice.
Of course, the entire bar joined in and several drunks lost not only money, but any other shiney object that they had possessed, and all in the blink of an eye. Plopping herself down on a chair, Lin somewhat loudly, ordered cider before she turned to her companion.
The figure was long and gangling and had a strange look about him. Like the three-foot girl, he wore a dark musketeer-styled hat, though it was black and featherless. He also sported a red silk shirt and black pants, the outfit complete with a short cape and a black sash holding a rapier.
"So Alleyway, that was quite an extraordinary game if I do say so myself. Are you sure you won't tell me how you did it- or the rest of your name?"
"Ya lost the bet Scarlette, don't go barkin up the wrong tree." She replied, flipping a strange coin in her right hand while casually eyeing him over the brim of the mug she took a drink from. "Jus' cause I broke you from the seal corps and you fixed the wheel don't mean I gotta go spillin' private stuff like that- I almost thought you wanted to make our relationship a little more personal."
"Oh no- not at all! Curiosity has killed the cat I see."
"More'in that if ya ain't carefull. Off to get more silks then are ya?"
"Yes, but of course. You were wanting a new...." At that he bent down and whispered something in her ear, recieving a vague node in return. "Ah, good good. I'll be happy to set it aside for you. And, in regards to the map...?"
"You get me what I want and we'll both be happy. I ain't sayin' another word." He smiled roguishly.
"And what else do you want?" She looked at him and rose an eyebrow.
"What do you think?"
