Lin giggled cheerily, taking up her huge scythe and leaping right up into a tree. She whistled sharply and a falcon flew to her, landing some distance away where it was partially hidden. From there it would squak and chirp to warn the others of back-attacks and so on.
Lin was all but invisible in the trees as was her huge scythe. It's quite an impressive feet to hide a 9 foot tall scythe in a tree, but she did it and no one the wiser. While up on her perch, Lin organized her elbow blades, her daggers, her scythe, a magical pendant and magical ring and so on so that she was completely battle ready. Then she sat quietly and waited.
It was amazing, the silence that came over her. Who would have known that someone so chipper could be so completely still? Even her hair seemed to stay settled when a gentle breeze blew by. A darkness crept over her features so that she was enveloped in shadow, though it happened with such subtlety that it seemed to be anything but magic. Perhaps she was in such a place that the sunlight couldn't reach her? Regardless, the coming army could recieve quite the shock when she appeared. She had every intention of eliminating the assassins first and raiding the rest later.

(Oh good. I'm glad I made the right choice when I decided to progress the plot.)
Roth stood in the center of the path, his staff held lightly in one hand. The breeze caused his cloak to flutter lightly. His eyes were shut and he stood perfectly still. As the soldiers came within 50 paces of the group, they skidded to a halt. The red figure pushed his way through the ranks to emerge in front, his eyes ablaze. He eyed Roth disdainfully, and made a gesture towards him. Three rather large soldiers charged towards Roth, swords drawn. Roth waited until they were a few paces away before muttering something and making a vague gesture. The horsemen were thrown from their saddles, landing heavily on the dirt. The horses galloped past him. The horsemen scrambled to their feet and scrambled back into the ranks. "The old one is mine," the red figure shouted. "Kill the rest." Roth made a circle around himself in the dirt with his staff without opening his eyes. The riders let out a great shout and charged at the group. The red figure dismounted and pulled out a crimson sword. He made a circle around him, just as Roth had, and stuck the end of the sword in the ground in front of him. He rested a hand on it and began to mutter.

Karma watched Roth with wide eyes then became aware that four of the soilders, two on horseback, two on foot, were coming straight at her. She had a moment to see weak spots in their body. Then the air around her seemed to stop. Many times she had this feeling, where everything felt like it was in slow motion. She watched the men, slowly coming towards her. The second she flung out her wrist and the handle of her sickle left her hand everything came into focus and she realized that she had just lopped a leg off of one of the horses. Bad aim, she decided. As the male on the injured horse scrambled off and drew a sword, Karma also decided she needed to be much quicker. She felt a blade start to sink into her shoulder and she whipped around, throwing her right shoulder back while she threw the left side of her body forward she brought her left arm down on the man's hand that was holding his blade , half cutting his hand off and while he attempted to scream, slit his neck open, sending dark blood pouring down the front of himself. She pushed him backward then sent her sickly flying behind her as she turned and cut both of the other two men's bellies open as they prepared to strike out at her. A few more came on and she glanced up in the tree. She was sure Alleyway Lin was hiding in the leaves somewhere, readying herself to strike, most likely unseen. "Like hell you'll kill any of us." Karma muttered, backing into a tree and shooting her sickle towards an oncoming soldier who expertly shooed it to the side, the sickle wrapping itself around Karma and the tree about two times. The soldier prepared to stick a blade into her but she sung her legs out, kicking him once in the stomach and then kicking her blade back around the tree the opposite way with her foot, pulling with her arm as it came at the man from the side and then pulled back, slicing the soldier's neck open.
(O___O Karma's getting uhm...violent.)

(Nothing wrong with violent.)
Roth grunted once as an arrow sped towards his face. About a foot away it struck a barrier, and Roth gestured in such a way that the broken arrow landed at Karma's feet. Roth's brow's were knitted in concentration, and his hands resumed making complicated gestures. His opponent's face was similarly contorted. One unfortunate soldier stepped in between the two, and a lightning bolt crackled out of the air, illuminating his skeleton for an instant before he was reduced to a smouldering heap. Roth absently shooed another four arrows out of the air and vaguely wondered why there were still archers alive.

OoC| Yay, plot progression! I'm just gonna assume that they're on a dirt trail that cuts between the forest | As soon as the soldiers came into view, Linith hopped off the wagon and took out his bow. Stringing it, he ran into the forest and hid close to a tree and aimed at one of the archers. As he strung the arrow as far as he could, the soldier spotted him and opened his mouth. As soon as he did, his neck was penetrated by an arrow and the words he was going to shout out came as rasps and gasps. That's the first man I killed. he told himself. Stringing another bow, he watched for a short while as the other archers looked around for him.
Releasing the bow, it sped towards another archer, the arrow striking him in the arm. The archer yelled as he dropped his bow and clutched his limb. Nearby one of the bushes rustled but Linith didn't pay much attention to it. What did Roth say about...Assasains! He looked to the bush again but it made no movement but Linith was still uneasy. He silently moved a few yards away and continued to shoot the tiny army's soldiers.

I Suppose this is what its coming to, eh? Karma thought. "We were trained to kill but I never really thought it would be much use..." She muttered to herself as she side-stepped and put her sickle into an archer's back. She pulled it out and pulled her dagger out from her waist, stabbing an oncoming soldier. All of them were weak...they were being killed by a teenage girl.

Roth was sweating profusely. One hand gripped his staff tightly, and the other was raised towards his opponent, making strange gestures. There was a faint blue glow that appeared to be running from his staff into his hand. His opponent had taken on a similar manner, and one hand gripped his sword tightly. The energy flowing from his sword was red. Then, all at once, they stopped. They both opened their eyes and stood, panting, regarding their opponent. The red figure pulled his sword out of the ground and pointed it at Roth, shouting something. A fireball shot towards him. Roth made a gesture and muttered something, and the fireball was engulfed and smothered by blue energy. The energy then arced towards the red figure at a frightening speed. He made a startled noise and raised his sword, which the arc struck. The red figure clenched his teeth and took a step back. His eyes became frantic, and one hand dipped into his pocket, pulling out a small black sphere, which he tossed at Roth. It landed at Roth's feet, and exploded with a blinding light and a huge noise. Roth cursed loudly and covered his face. When he could see again he saw the red figure riding down the path. Roth swore, and knocked a soldier rather forcefully from his horse with his staff. He leapt into the saddle and pushed the horse into a gallop after the figure.

Not that anyone would notice, but blood dripped out from under a bush and elsewhere from a slightly hidden branch of a tree. More was on the battle field and still more on the otherside of the road.
Lin had made it a point to take the assassins out, which she had done with disturbing ease, had anyone been around to watch her. Slipping out of the bushes, she frowned as Roth and the freak in the red dress rode away. To follow, or not to follow? By the way Karma kept getting herself tangled up in her own weapon and the mess she was making on the field, Lin decided it was best to stay and babysit the other two. (( ;D))
Jumping out of her shadow, she whipped her scythe about her body so that it seemed that it was levitating around a central point, not unlike a machine. It was in this fashion that some five other soldiers died, their cries hardly escaping their mouths before the frighteningly huge weapon appeared.
And, quite unlike the rest of the group, Lin's wounds were not immediatly visible. In fact, she had the biggest grin on her face, one that Roth would likely have wanted to smack had he been able to see it.
"You know, these idiots aren't much better than bandits. Wasn't that a little too easy? And who wants to chase the geek in the red dress? I do!" And she jumped onto a horse, looking like a child at play.

Roth rode back towards the group wearing a stormy expression. He looked at Lin, shook his head and began muttering curses. His face was covered with scratches and cuts. "He got away," he said between curses, absently knocking a soldier so hard a huge dent appeared in the helmet. The few remaining soldiers were frightened, and were beginning to run into the trees. "I caught up to him, but he turned into an owl and flew away." He cracked another soldier over the head. "I chased him as a hawk, but a damn crow..." He grumbled something, touching his cuts tenderly. "He is going to cause us a great deal of trouble in the future, I just know it."

Karma had a soldier's neck tucked under one arm as she was beating his already bloodied face with her fist. She watched Roth, listening to him as she continued to punch the poor soldier then let go of him and he dove behind the bushes. Karma wiped the back of her hand on the hem of her dress and nodded. "I think so too. Besides, Roth's always right so why should I disagree?" She smiled at Roth, a wide grin that was her real rare smile. She looked around and the smile disappeared and she rubbed the back of her neck, heading back to the wagons. "Uhm...let's go."

Roth looked at the wagons critically. "Leave them," he said after a moment. "Once our friend gets word back to his superior, they won't do us much good." He began to unhook the horses, then remembered the two dozen mounts standing idly around behind him. "Right," he said. "Take only what you need. Leave the wagons and let's ride. Stealth is no longer an option."

"I've got a horsey!" Lin announced happily, almost hopping up and down on the saddle. The horse didn't seem to care at the moment. "You know Uncle Roth, you should have just asked Mithinrei- he woulda gone after him and beat the crows to it. The crows don't bother Mithin cause of his... um..." She frowned, a look of confusion crossing her face. "... I forget what it's called..."

Karma got a dark look on her face but nodded. Even after cutting a horse's leg off earlier she hated them all. One of the reasons she killed the men was because some of them were on horses. But she looked around, looking for a nice stable looking one that wouldn't even think about throwing her off. She found a carmle colored horse speckled with brown and some white. She looked at it and looked at the saddle. The only problem now as to get on it. "Uh..." Karma mused, biting her lip then put her leg on the foot strap (thing.....) and getting herself clumsily on the horse. She took hold of the reigns tightly then sat up and hesitently patted the horse on the head. "Uhm...good...horsie." SHe murmured then rucked back and forth. "...How do you make it do the thing where it...you know...goes...?"

"I could tell you," Roth said, a smile playing across his lips, "But I think it would be much more amusing to watch you figure it out on your own." With that, the horse began to canter slowly down the path.

Lin laughed from her saddle and rode over to Roth. "This saddle is too big for me!" She complained loudly. "Uncle Roth, will you ride with me?" The girl gave him a pouty and incredibly cute look, holding her 9 foot scythe on the other side of the horse and -sort of- out of sight.
